So I've searched the codes and know most but have a couple of mysteries.

C02/U is US market car
M28.44 I believe this is the engine code
A28.04 I think this is the 4-speed auto trans
I158 No idea?
M319 small cooling fan pulley
M418 rub strips
M474 sport shocks
M490 sound package (is this stereo or insulation?)
M494 stereo amp.
M533 alarm
M570 hi output A/C (is this is the rear unit or is there more?)
M650 sunroof

Any ideas on the I 158?
thanks, Brian

Options are:

M 261 - Outside passenger electric mirror

I 282 - ?

M 418 - Side mouldings

I 423 - Cassette container and coin box

I 454 - Cruise control

I 461 - Electric antennae and 4 speakers

Interestingly you car has the country code of 26, which is South Africa (Australia is 23)

My 82 also has the country code of 26 listed and not 23, and yet it has an Australian compliance plate and was delivered by Hamiltons Porsche in Melbourne.

The only explanations that I can think of are that the cars were destined for South Africa but then they got the Australian orders and diverted them here, or it's a database error.

Thanks Dave, that's great. Mine was a South African delivery according to the booklet. I assume they're the same spec as Australian delivered vehicles?

It has four speakers, but only the front two work - a job for another day!

thank you

M282 is possibly rear sun visors. In '80 and '81 MY they were optional in some markers.
