Default Manual seat adjustment gear

The passenger seat power forward and aft has not functioned in a while so decided to take a look. the up and down work, back adjustment and lumbar. I could hear the switch activate (try) then stop. So I get the wrench out of the tool compartment give it a twist, and after a bit of pressure it spins freely. Take the cover off and see the plastic gear that the wrench goes in has split in half. ANy thread with pics on dissassembly, or getting to cables to use drill to move seat, free it up. 1988 S4. Jon

Undid spring, used wrench on end of cable to "unbind right side" got both sides working with drill. Reattachced to motor, was working finr until I sat on the seat, then no worky. off seat worked ok. Put hand underneath front, when I press up on front edge of big flat black electrical panel(?) it works. Must be a short somewhere. Decide to remove seat. All bolts come loose easily, one not participating, PB blast, close to stripping, brakes loose, whew close call. Got seat out, nothing looks loose, so I press everything in snug, rest seat on rails, plug in, seams to be going good, sit on it, no worky, go to remove and when I go to unplug I see plug that is attached to car starting to come apart. nooooo, cover comes off and plug pulls apart. now searching for diagram on how to put that part back together correctly after popping a fuse w/first guess..............
