use the PET to figure out the spring/washer setup, ( I dont see the washer in your photo)
if necessary buy a new washer for the tensioner pin assembly

the wear on the roller isnt good,
its too much off to one side use the PET verify that the parts are installed the correct way , this is a result of worn pivot arm bushings and possibly a misplaced spring clip

Ok got it, thanks. The circlip on the large roller is missing. The smaller one doesn't want to come off - yet.

Wow, how time goes by. Slowly but diligently going forward. Every time I think it's time to start putting stuff back together, I see something new that needs my attention.

So far I've taken off everything but the heads. Front-end, top-end, radiator, ATF-cooler, A/C condensor. Powder coated the intake and cam covers. Rebuilt AFT cooler lines and A/C lines.

And countless hours and more countless hours of cleaning. Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. I swear by far the biggest time factor in this job is the cleaning.

Anyway, it's almost ready to put it back together again.

Did you replace your cam chain tensioner pads while you're in there? Also, a couple of other things you might want to consider while you're in there.

Oh... and maybe the front main seal, too.

Cam chain tensioner pads, yes. My wallet has been giving me the silent treatment ever since.

Your thread reads very very familiar. Used your powder coating guide as well.

Main seal, yup. In fact, I cannot think of a single thing front and top that isn´t getting replaced.

Thanks for thinking with me!

They won't look any better for a long while. Stripped, blasted, baked, powder coated, painted the letters.

Those look great. Dont forget to remove the finish on the ground points or you may have wierd sensor problems.

Thumbs up

Very cool! Nice choice on colors and texture, too.

Looking forward to seeing them installed. Don't forget to take a few photos during installation, before the cam covers get covered up.

Yes! Thanks for the reminder. I caught that bit just earlier and ground some area clean.

Definitely! Still lots of cleaning to do on the engine though.

Replaced the soldered together fan wiring with crimps.

From

To

Then:

New housings, terminals, weather plugs and boots on the engine harness. The injector terminals are much easier to crimp than the terminals in the multi-terminal housings. All in all not too difficult but a very tedious job.

Old

New

Epic, not sure, but slow, definitely

Sooo, been doing cam tower and A/C lines and compressor rebuild. Changed out all charcoal cannister lines. Replaced the gas pedal cable and cruise control cable. And cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Pics of all this later.

Intake coming together.

New ISV, hoses and plated clamps, MAF elbow.

Throttle plate cleaned up

New flappy actuator

New idle contact switch

All together

With side plates

With intake spacers - I like it!!

With vacuum hoses and throttle linkage, ready to back on

Very nice

I wish I had your patience - I don't get things done any faster but I always find that there was something I skipped along the way when I look back.
