you need to inspect the rear shifter coupler possibly has a worn bushing .
Other thing to check is where does the shifter sit when it in neutral?
if its not centered in the shifter housing,
then the rear pinch bolt on the coupler may need to be loosened and then the shifter repositioned ,
then the bolt tightened.
get a helper to hold the shifter in the center then tighten the bolt on the rear shift coupler

Also check that the two pins that the shift lever slides onto are still welded to the shiift rods They can come loose (unwelded) adding to the lost motion particularly side to side.

4losi,

Does your clutch tend to drag a little, especially in the a.m. when its cold??? Its weird... I'm having the same difficulty (also live in Columbus, OH). I've bled the clutch hydraulic fluid (twice) and adjusted the clutch push rod under the dash (twice). Both times it fixed the problem... shifted like butter for about 20 miles but the clutch slowly & surely starts to drag along with hard shifting into Reverse, 1st, etc... Its really pissing me off.... I think I'm gonna have to adjust the clutch intermediate plate - which is kind of a PITA. If I do this I'll probably get help from the buckeyelandsharks and your welcome to come over & watch, help, learn, drink beer & eat pizza ( its a tradition we have Maybe we'll both learn something!

My second 5 speed had the same problem when I picked it up at Sharktoberfest. We thought maybe the clutch needed adjusting, and we rangled John V. into doing a improptu tech session. Wasn't the clutch, Tom M. slipped in under the dash and bled the master from inside the car and got it working. However after getting it home it started doing it again, and while bleeding the slave, the fluid wouldn't flow out just kinda spit... Like this post:

When I get some of the multitude of other to do's done I'll check this.

I am having the exact issue. I have even adjusted the T's on the pressure plate numerous times. I have tried bleeding every possible way suggested here from the archives. Right after I do some work on it, it works perfectly. Once driven, the clutch gets soft after cooling off and I grind trying to get reverse. Once warmed up, it works again. I am going to try to pressure bleed it once more today and see what happens.
