Chuck, speaking of the Registry, it seems to have been closed to new registration for a couple of years now. Any plans on re-opening that? Not complaining, just curious.

No worries, I'm not happy about it's current state either. I am starting to work on getting it back up and running more user friendly then it has been. Having a call about it next week as a matter of fact..... Stay tuned.

I often am ask to try to get domains for businesses...I just HATE those squatters. Not only do they make it difficult for actual businesses to represent themselves, they usually set up clickthru's that make finding things on the internet more difficult.

+1 In the past, I've tried to contact this guy with an offer to buy the domain name but he never responded. I don't get it on this one though; it's not like the 928 Registry site is a money making proposition nor will it ever be? The domain name will never be worth anything. I say that b/c my long term plan is to work out an agreement with a transition plan and eventually turn the site over to the 928 OC. First though, got to get it relevant again.....

Chuck- what about a space or an underscore between '928' and 'Registry'? If available, then proceed as planned?

I hate squatters as well, I tried to buy a domain for our family and it doesn't matter what your plans are they still want to get paid. Even if he doesn't make any money on the site now, it's probably costing him like $60 a year maybe less.

If that is the plan, it would be best to stay with .org since that is also what the 928OC uses and is the most appropriate for a non-profit club or organization.
Having .org or .com doesn't have anything to do with making or keeping it relevant again.
IF you are having problems getting who ever it is is to get the site updated or working again (I only say this because of the prior comment about "having a call about it next week")...then this would be the perfect time to pass it on to the OC.
I am sure some of the members would be glad to put some time into getting back up and running, and I know Stan will know what is needed and can make recommendations to who can assist to make it easier and more user friendly for them to maintain?
In other words, why call "who ever" to get it back working and then pass it on to the OC. It might make more sense to let them get it set up the best for them to use it and not depend on calling someone else etc.
Hope that makes sense.
All the best,
Dave
