I've searched but can't find the answer...
Why are my pics so damn big and how do I make them smaller?

Open photo in Microsoft Paint and use the stretch/skew function to shrink by entering a percentage number less than 100.

Flickr will auto resize photos for you. Specify the size you want the photo to be and include a link to the photo in the text of your post...flickr handles the resize in the background. Might be limits to what / how much you can store with a free account.

That's "Resize" in Win7.

And crop to area of interest before doing that.

For Mac...

If not using iPhoto
Open in Preview (right click document and choose Preview on the Open With menu)
On the Tools menu pick Adjust Size
It will show the resulting file size when you pick different sizes.
Pick Export to save the newly sized document. Save a copy will replace the current one.

If using iPhoto
Drag the picture you want to resize to your desktop, then follow the above. iPhoto will resize when you export a picture, but it does not show the resulting file size like Preview does.
