Laurie,

Welcome to one - if not the - most helpful car group in the USA (world?). You'll find lots of help here - whether you do your own work, or want to find someone qualified to do it for you. Most of us will tell you NEVER to take it to a Porsche dealer for any work. Private individuals or independent shops who KNOW these cars are the only way to get good reliable service. And, we have some great suppliers of both new OE parts, as well as used parts and aftermarket modifications.

I hope you enjoy your 928 as much as I've enjoyed the ones I've owned over the past nearly 13 years (two were '88's). The last one I bought - about 6 years ago - will hopefully be the last car I ever sell!!

Hope you will consider joining the 928 Owners Club, and attending some of the local meets that the Club helps sponsor. The web site is: www.928OC.org . The next International Convention will be held in Wichita KS this coming summer (see the announcement from Roger Tyson in this forum). Hope to meet you there.

Welcome to the 928 area on Rennlist Laurie,

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Where did you find this one?

Laurie, I don't have a lift . But I do have a set of Porken lift-bars , which make raising the car up onto jack stands a breeze.

I'm flying to NYC next Thursday, and won't be back until Monday. So it looks like I will miss Emerald. Let me know if you need to borrow any tools, or the lift-bars and jack stands. I can bring over anything you might need. Let me know.

Randy, I'm a gal, chick, female - but always a lady. Except when I'm outdrinking da boys lol. I may get my nails done but I'm not afraid of getting a little dirty as my 2 hours ripping apart my seat mechanism will attest. I am looking forward to getting greasy as my 928 and I get to know eachother.

Flying Scottsman, all paperwork indicates it is a 1988. I have to assume that it is unless there's another way to verify.

Hessank - beautiful S4, so sexy! But then again, I don't think I've ever seen a 928 I didn't find absolutely sexy. And when they're started, that purr of the engine - so hott!

Happy Turkey day to you all :-)

Dwayne, thank you for the welcome. Seriously, 6 of them? I've joked that I'd love having one for every day of the week. Geez, you're just one away? Where is Ridgecrest? I will check out your website. Happy Thanksgiving,
Laurie

Gary/James/Sean - thank you for the welcome and the tip on the club. I will definitely check it out.

Speedtoys, I grew up around Los Gatos. Boy what fun it'd be to drive my 928 over hwy 17. Once my leaks are fixed, I'm taking her ocean side! I'll let you know when I'm headed your direction.

Richard, I would love to swing by and borrow the lift bars so Emerald can get underneath. I will PM you Friday and we can arrange a time between now and Wednesday when it's convenient for you. I'm sorry Emerald won't get to see you, but I'm sure he'll be back. I am in town thru the weekend and back to work on Monday. I'll PM you Friday and give you my cell number. I truly appreciate the offer.

Time to turn in, it's going to be a long day tomorrow. I hope you all have a great turkey day.
Laurie

Welcome to rennlist, Laurie! Please visit www.norcal928.org or contact rennlist user Bill Ball to get on our local email list. Once Bill's shark has been reassembled, we may do a fun drive in the Napa area. Would be great to see you there!

Picked this one up in Vallejo/Banicia from a gentleman named Scott W. I have found some discrepancies in the records vs what he had told me/us... so we took it in for a timing belt check (most likely replacement) yesterday.

Depending on how car forward on the car it is either the accumulators on the ABS pump, or the reservoir to master cylinder seals. However, if it is leaking that much, stop driving until the problem is fixed!!!!
You mailed it Colin Identified at the ABS module thanks to folks here. It went from a slow drip to a res full of fluid over a 100 miles or less.

clear with a brown tinge. At first glance I thought it was power steering because it looked pink on the floor.

Good call. I need to pull that inner fender well and clean it off... or Laurie does. That will be a "walk through over the phone conversation

Rick, we too kit to Ron at ipb-autosport (downtown Sac off of "C" street for the timing, water pump and ABS module replacement. They have a shop they use, not sure of the name, that he swears knows and understands the 928 and how to do it right.... we shall see.

They seem to understand the 928, worked on many including a 1980 that they were putting S4 brakes on when we got there. They have been working on this particular 928 since it was new.

Only think that caught me a bit odd was the 9-10hr estimate for the timing belt and water pump replacement. I thought this was a $1000 job with parts, not a $1000 in labor plus parts...

I only have so much time and I spent most of this trip doing drywall, tile and grout after I got that damn harness replaced. I would have liked to knock out more of this work myself, but is a 928, there will be more
