I just remember this one back in the summer pulling up to Dairy Queen at a parking space just in front of a table with a few kids, went in there and bought something and came out to the car, i guess they saw me got out so i went in the car and start her up while they were looking i turned on and off the headlights, all 3 of them pointed at my pop-up lights, that was cool - made me a kid!!

Always got attention and positive comments when driving mine, "cool car" at gas stations, "That's a beautiful car" from the stradale owner who drove in the blind spot 60 miles to a gtg once, the cop while giving a ticket on the highway who turned his back on the ticketee to watch mine the whole pass, and all the times a passenger in a neighboring car points at the lights when they are on as I get even with them (in city traffic).

Extremely rare and extremely good looking, who doesn't like them.

Half owned by Steve Carrell? Or maybe I'm mixing up my famous folk.

My gold one on the Cape, occasionally yields rubbernecking or inquiries. "Porsche made a V8, I didn't know that..."
My blue one here in MD, which is far more sedate IMHO, I've had people yelling compliments from their windows as they drive by, rolling down windows to ask questions while at stop signs, etc.

I can certainly see not wanting to give the keys over to an 18-19 year old kid. It's funny, because I got my 928 when I was 17. I didn't drive 55 in the right lane, but overall, I didn't do anything really stupid. Most of the kids I knew with run of the mill beater cars drove way more dangerously and crazier then I ever would. I was paying for my own insurance and repairs, so tickets and damage were always in the back of my mind. Still have the same car 17 years later and just took it on the run to the Saratoga Auto Museum this weekend where I drove in a much more "spirited" fashion than I ever would have dared when I was younger.

Back on topic - I get a lot of looks and comments from people when I take the car out where I live in Central Jersey. One time I was parked at the library waiting for my wife. A boy of about 3 or 4 came over towards the car smiling and pointing. His mother said "He really likes your car. It's very nice." The 4 year old has good taste.

I talk with people from all over the country, all over the world. You don't have to seek far to find enthusiam for the marque.

My local regional interest is limited in Richmond, but NOVA is a hop-skip away and filled with great 928'rs.

Probably part of the reason I reach out is due to lack of a local club. I miss being close with the Detroit gang. They are pretty tight.

I have alot of interesting conversation with local Porsche people, and they appear to appreciate the 928.
Often times I get confused with the a local fella that has his 928 parked outside, on the main-road, Huegenot. I have to assure them he is not me, as his 928 hasn't moved in 2 years.

me too.I'm shocked on the comments and the attention the car gets. Certainly more than my previous 911 which was guards red! Yesterday I was at my physiotherapist for an emergency treatment, her 4 year old son was in absolute awe of the car. He asked me to start it and then it put a huge smile on his face! That was priceless...

I was dropping off one of the 928 guys from Germany at the local (North Austin) VW place (he is in town visiting fam) and as we turned in one of the folks leaving the dealership in a new VW gave us a big thumbs up.

Two days ago I was sitting in a parking lot about to start the car and pull out when an attractive young couple walked by and then turned around and walked back to ask about the car!

Both of these were in the silver '92 GTS... ALL my cars attract attention though and all get thumbs up's!!!

Gotta love these dang 928's! We might also be on the rise as we get more and more of the crappy ones off the road and either turn them in to parts cars or bring them back to life properly! That means that there are more NICE 928's around now than say 5 years ago... Just speculating on that of course.

Was visiting friend in Austin after 3rd Coast 2010. Neighbor boys came over and ogled the 928 and were thrilled with the headlights popping up and down. Visited same friends after 3rd Coast 2011 a year later, same neighbor boys noticed the 928, knocked on the door and asked to see the lights work again.

Nothern and Southern Cal. seems to have quite a few but with so many people you hardly ever see them. I have had 2 shark sightings other than at gtg in the past year.

I am thinking color plays a role.

My guards red GT attracts attention like a magnet in Central Illinois. Mostly positive and full of enthusiasm. Occasionally though, I've noticed sneering by some people with new domestic "muscle cars."

Actually, I never thought that Porsche had a very good image as a marque and some of the cars they are making now aren't helping. I don't think the fact that it is a Porsche has anything to do with it.

Cheers, JP

Yeah, I got that too, but the guy needed a ride to work. Apparently he worked in a little crack house out behind an old Sunoco station.

My 89 had really fancy wheels, and I was often asked if it was ''the new Porsh''.

<=== I don't get any love in the Zyclamrot Metallic unless I'm at a 928 GTG. The car seems invisible, even when I had the horns on it.

I did get one comment at the drive through car wash the other day.... "Hey Mister, is this front spoiler supposed to come off like that?" And later that same day at Jiffy Lube " I'm sorry but I think I stripped out the oil pan bolt." Just kidding

I've posted here in the past & recently of attn. our 928s have received over the years. One of my fav. stories is once in a joint caravan with our PCA & Vette clubs, about 50+ cars were driving thru rural Ga. with the cars staggered Porsche, Vette, Porsche. Wife & I were in the only two 928s & we were about 10 cars apart. As we drove past a random house, there was a guy with his two young sons standing near the road watching all the cars drive past. When I approached, he started pointing at my car & talking to his sons. When I mentioned this to my wife later, she said, Yeah, he pointed at my car too. I told her, Hell, he was probably saying, "Look kids, there goes one of them Ferraris!".

My car would be less obvious being dark blue & an older style, but I've compensated with the X-pipe & Kinesis wheels. My wife seems to always get a ton of attn. in her car, but heck they are both gorgeous.

I just posted a thread last week about being in the Exotic car show in Orlando, with more Ferraris and Lambos than you can imagine. Being parked next to a new Panamera, her Shark brought a lot of positive comments. That was nice cause it was kinda intimidating in the company of so many new & $$$ Supercars.
