Looks like a lot of fun, Greg. However, that is not the aileron that in deflected, it is the flap, but only for additional lift on take off. Also the rudder looks to be very slightly pushed to the left, and it is right rudder that is required to counter the torque on take off.

I h ave followed the build of the 5 (4, er 3) airplanes, what a project they had, that is one great deal of work there.
And what they did with the engines, man that was a stoke of mental ability there, to cast a replica of the 004 and wrap it around a modern turbine was brilliant in my book.

If any of you folks are interested in the "New" ME 262, you need to read all of that site, week by week, year by year, that is just one hell of a deal the undertook, and did.

The link

http://www.stormbirds.com/project/index.html

As far as the ride today, it is a very well kept airplane, many new parts on the low time airframe, it leaked so little oil I actually checked it myself to make sure it was full.

Talk about a boot full of rudder to counter the torque on takeoff...

Taking abiout great aircraft, look what's soon arriving at the Military Aviation Museum in Va Beach:

As promised, an update on Me262 "WHITE 3". After the successful completion of the flight test program and some bureaucratic and weather delays, I ferried the airplane from Paine Field, Washington to Suffolk County Airport in Virginia. For the last two test flights we had converted it to the two-seat configuration, which allowed our lead mechanic Mike Anderson to come along as crew chief/navigator on this 2 500 mile trip. As our FAA- operating limitations mandated 'Day VFR only', and the max altitude of 18 000ft not exactly optimal for range, it took us four days and six refueling stops across the continent to reach our destination, with "WHITE 3" performing flawlessly. ATC doesn't have a computer code yet for the Me262, and controllers frequently asked me for the type of airplane. They usually couldn't wait then to pass the information on to 'their' airliners on the same frequency, e.g. "Delta 123, you have a MESSERSCHMITT!! in your ten o'clock, five miles". One of the many funny replies: "Are we being invaded?"...

After receiving its new airworthiness certificate and operating limitations (the initial ones were valid only for flight test and repositioning), I'll be flying "WHITE 3" from its maintenace base in Suffolk County to its final destination, a small airport south of Virginia Beach with a 5 000ft grass runway, where it will join - as the first jet - the world's largest collection of privately owned warbirds in the "Military Aviation Museum."

I saw the Me262 sitting in the Smithsonian in DC, wow, couldn't believe it.

Did some googling when I first read this thread, there is some amazing video on various sites. Gathering of Legends back on 2007 with I think 77 P51's and over 100 WWII planes in the air in formation.

I saw the post title and thought "Interesting, I've got 2 T-28s on my 928, lets see what this guy has done?" I'm thinking Garrett turbos not warplanes !

Just a follow up, went for another ride today, got to fly the airplane for a bit, and I have to say it has delightful controls, easier and lighter than a Bonanza.

It does take a lot of nose up attitude on roll entry, we did not do any other acrobatics as he does not like to stress it puts on his back. lol

It did surprise me that the entry into a loop pulls about 3.5-4 G, which is a lot for entry into a loop.

Trying to get a deal going for a ride in a T-33 next month, the owner needs a set of three barrel Webers for his 911 an I just happen to have a set.

To get to go play with neat, old airplanes is pretty much a perfect day for me.
