I didn't play the video too loud, but didn't notice any special noises, injectors can be pretty loud.

Reserve auction that isn't over, so no guessing final price.
Shipping by fastening to a pallet and rest responsibility of buyer, no guessing final cost and condition (pallets are too weak for a 928 engine IMHO).
No testing, compression, endplay, etc.

Engines are something to buy local.

Get a handle on shipping the engine before buying.

I've gotten them shipped through these guys: http://www.freightcenter.com/

It can be expensive. Costs go way down if a semi can back up at the shipper location and delivery point. If you need a lift truck it gets spendy.

I like extra engines.

I had an engine shipped from CA to FL once. Wasn't too bad. With two decently strong guys we were able to lift it from the pallet out of the back of the semi and lower it to the pavement, so no fork lift or lift truck was needed. Iron block V6 nissan turbo engine probably weighs similar to an aluminum V8 I'm guessing.

I've shipped several engines around the country -- usually runs about $250 or so give or take.

I'd spend the extra $30 for a lift and save my back and possible worse issues.

The 928 engines are quite heavy. I'm usually shipping 944 engines, M96s. or 911 engines.

contact andy@shipag.com -- tell him mike at lone star rpm sent you.
(no affiliation -- just been using his services for a couple years without any issues)

The engine weighs just under 600 lbs with out the weight of a pallet. That would require two very strong and well cordinated guys to wrestle it off a trailer and not drop it. The 928 engine is aluminum but it is not lightweight.

You may want to keep in mind that 928 INT. is half price on used parts in December. I bought my spare motor from them a couple of years ago. I trust Mark Anderson more than any E-bay seller.

I shipped a Euro motor from San Francisco bay area to a shipping terminal in OC. Seller was Atasco (sells Japanese domestic market stuff), pallet it shipped on broke, bent some pulleys on the crank, and the "overall" mess was strapped to a second pallet. Nobody would take any responsibility for the damage, and all I wanted were the heads etc., so I accepted it. Shipping cost was about $200 with the non lift gate terminal delivery. Terminal put it in the back of a rental pickup with a forklift, and I took it out with the harbor freight cherry picker.

I've heard of other people who have shipped a motor and gotten hit later for fuel surcharges that were substantial.

*** This was the short block with the S rods that ended up shipped cross country to I think NM.

Wow - 600lbs! That's a good bit more than the iron block Nissan SOHC turbo V6 - just over 400 lbs, or about 390 w/o the turbo or exhaust manifolds. Guess I would spring for the lift gate on a 928 engine.

Not quite, but one year is pretty good for a used 928 motor:

"Warranty: All new, rebuilt, and used parts carry a one year limited warranty. All warranties cover only the part and do not cover any installation charges or damage to other parts. By installing these parts, you have accepted this warranty. Failure of a part due to misuse or improper installation is not covered under this warranty." - http://www.928intl.com/order.htm

I have shipped engines Terminal to Terminal using the Freight Center. Terminal to terminal is a lot cheaper. The Freight Center people are great - good service - engine delivered on time undamaged - great follow up. I delivered the engine strapped to a pallet to the terminal. They unload with a fork lift. The person on the other end just needs to show up at a freight terminal with a pick up and have the terminal load the engine with a forklift. Smooth deal. $250 sounds a little low for a complete engine. But $350 should do it.
