First post - 6th 928 owned. I have an '89 S4 automatic, with 107k miles, that upon starting one morning displayed "eeprom geloescht" which translates to "eprom deleted". This message will not go away: I disconnected the battery and the message reappears upon reconnection . . . it just stays on, so . . . I have no odometer since that's where the message is displayed, but the car runs fine, except . . . (are you ready). for the fuel gauge. A previous owner supposedly changed everything to LEDs if that matters. I'm in the Phoenix area and looking for help.

The EPROM inside the instrument cluster likely needs reseating. The LEDs probably have noting to do with your problem, but previous entry by PO may be the cause too.
That would involve...... disconnecting the battery, removing the instrument cluster, removing the back of the cluster, using a screwdriver or IC extraction tool to unseat then reseat the EPROM, reassemble everything, reconnect the battery, test drive.
