Just did, didn't see it before my post. However, I do have a completely different gauge, but I will remove it as reliability increases with each part removed! The part not there cannot cause a problem.

Similar to what several others report, I keep a gauge and the adapter fitting handy for diagnosing possible problems. Mine has an extension hose that's not quite long enough to rout up where it can be seen while driving, so pressure profiles are done with a MityVac and the gauge. Doesn't answer everything testing that way, but i's slightly better than the go/Nogo method. "Testing" is usually for leakdown time anyway.

My early Explorer had a fitting on the fuel rail. Schraeder-style connector there permanantly, just attach a screw-on gauge connector hose when you want to test.

I vividly remember lecturing friends who used copper tubing for the fuel system, especially one who ran a 1/8" line into the passenger compartment to hook up with his mechanical fuel pressure gauge in the console. Disaster waiting to happen.

I put the one from 928MS on the silver car about a year ago, since it is not yet sharktuned and I wanted to richen the mixture across the board in the mean time (via the AFPR). I thought it looked cool, so I left it on. I checked it today, and it looks fine, but I will be taking it off just to be safe.

However, I like knowing what is going on with the engine, even if the gauges are all just saying everything's fine, so I'm going to look into putting a sensor at a different location and running a wire to an in-cabin gauge.

I cannot believe how much this whole gauge debate has gotten out of hand. There are tons of these gauges out there and they've been in use for years. ONE gauge fails and now the sky is falling. I agree that the gauges aren't necessary to be mounted permanantly but this mass hysteria is a little much don't you think?

No matter who's gauge you have fitted and you want to remove it - need the cap and ball?
I have bought a lot from Porsche for my customers.
928sRus will send you a pair free of charge - just email me at roger@928sRus.com with a request and shipping details. Only one per request please.
Better to be safe than sorry.
Roger
