Default Alternative to buying New 4" Door Panel Speaker Grills

http://www.simplyspeakers.com/product.asp?itemid=153

I stumbled upon these. I think it would be a great alternative to buying the OEM 4" Speaker grills, which seem to be pretty high priced for a circular piece of plastic and metal.

Can anyone confirm fitment of these? Will they just screw on like the OEM ones? I've been looking for a replacement for a cracked one I have for about 6 months now.

The ring has multiple holes on it for a 'universal' type adaption. The holes should line up with the four on the door panel already.

Not to try and sink a good effort, but I did evaluate these grills prior to having mine made. They are well built, but about 5/8" thick and stamped steel. They are also significantly larger than stock, by about an inch or so. For the price, I certainly encourage people to try them, but ultimately, I dont think it is what you guys are looking for.

I can get a much closer to stock appearance grill from MISCO, but it too is a bit larger than stock, albeit with a plastic shell which blends with the car much better.

Thanks,
Hans

So then to date, what is the best replacement option for a broken trim ring for an 87-99? The MISCO product? How does one go about ordering a set so both doors match? Can you provide a picture of the results?

Troy here in Indy currently has them on his car... and the MISCO speakers I demoed for the project. They do fit a 928... but the quality was not where I wanted it to be (on the drivers not the grill) so went with a different manufacturer. You can send him a PM and I bet he will post pics of the grills.

Thanks
Hans

I think I'm going to give those speaker grills a try I posted up. My Infinity speakers are due for replacing and I found some nice 3-way Pioneers that will fit the bill just right. I am also going to look for the original large square speaker covers that conceal the 4" speakers in the hatch area.

The 89-95 grills are clip on (10 speaker system). The earlier cars with factory amplifier system (8 speakers) are screw-on grills.
