Default Beware the Shark Tuner

It’s all the Shark Tuner’s fault!

GTS was low on power so installed ST2 PEMS just before leaving for 3rd Coast 2011. The PEMs untuned with S4 maps added so much power that I got a $291 ticket for doing 93 in a 70 on the drive to 3rd Coast. Had evidentially gotten up to 93 dropping it into 4th and passing that 60 mph pickup truck.

Dropping to fourth to pass the clutch started slipping. By the time I got to Marble Falls the clutch was slipping in just about any gear when accelerating hard. So now I gotta put in a new clutch, Shark Tuner's fault.

As if that wasn’t enough...Because of the clutch I couldn’t drive on the 3rd Coast Tours so I was forced to ride in Andy's Stroker GTS. Now I absolutely have to do the cams. Shark Tuner's fault.

So...Beware the Shark Tuner.

So you are saying I could reprogram my S4 (with appropriate computer chip changes) and get more power?

Sharktuner is on next year's Christmas list; timing belt and water pump parts are on this year's...

SharkTuner hit me too. It forced me to upgrade my fuel pump, injectors and MAF, and to purchase a wbO2, significantly lightening my wallet. You have been warned!

Bit me too! All the *&!!* Sharktuner's fault that I needed to:
- discover that my fuel pressure was 30# and have to adjust it to 55#
- replace the 19# injectors with 24# ones
- disconnect the PO's water temp sensor bias pot
- abandon the PO's home depot air pump connection to the x-pipe that got so many nice comments when I posted a photo, so that I could
- install a new WB02
- ruin my hot rod gas mileage (14.7mpg to 19.7mpg)
- lose the exciting stumble on warmup
- spend two days away from home on an island with great people
- throw away my Autothority chips
- spend a day tuning with Jim on a trip across the border to Colin's place
- recalibrate the position vs acceleration setting on my foot/throttle circuit.

Randy,

There was something going on with my GTS that we could not find. The before dyno was 273 rwhp.
Because the dyno numbers were low my mechanic went through everything with both the hammer, and the Porsche diagnostic computer stuff. We added the ST2 to use as a tool to give us more data to try to figure out why it's power was so low.

We had a horrible time installing the ST2 PEMS. After the 3rd LH PEM Jim sent a known working LH with PEMs with the S4 maps. The new as been working so far AND (just seat of the pants) the car has gotten back the power that was missing. For example last summer the car used to be able to spin the tires with full throttle just cruising in 2nd gear. Over the winter and this spring the car lost enough power that it would not spin the tires even in first unless I revved it up and dropped the clutch. After the new LH it now spins the tires in 2nd gear rolling by just putting the accelerator into the firewall. That is the increase in power referred to above.

The best that Jim and my mechanic can figure is that whatever is causing the PEMs to not work with my brain is causing the loss in power.
