Underappreciated.
84 is my absolute favorite year.
Side by side, equal condition, I'd take 84 5 speed over S4.
No question, no waffling, easy call.
This looks like an excellent example.
Last nice one I think was found by Capt. Earl a year ago or so.

You guys are too kind I'm just a hobbyist who happens to hear about wacky/weird deals that most other peeps don't have time for. Every once in great while the prize ends up being something good.

Question on these decals on the inside of my windshield. I'm assuming they were installed at the P-car factory. Does this mean my car is still rocking the front glass from '84?

Try the part #'s with the P-car dealer. Maybe still available?

928 701 159 03 for the shift pattern diagram

928 006 521 03 for the starting procedure

Another cool "feature" of the 84 (I think this was only on 83/84 US) was CASIS... computer aided shift indicator system.... up arrow in the middle of the tach would tell you when to shift for best fuel economy..however, if going full throttle, it was "smart" enough to tell you when to shift for best power (eg. redline)

Kie,
My daughter's 84 automatic ( the Stan Shaw red one from a few years ago) still has that yellow rectangular sticker, just where yours is located.

Wow that one looks nice. Her front glass must be the original version as well. I was having a hard time believing that on mine since there are so few dings/scratches but I guess anything is possible.

Can't remember if the original glass on the 84's are green or brown...but it should at least say "SIGLA" or sometimes "Sekurit" in the drivers side corner.....newer replica Sigla glass has it on the passenger side...

Thanks Tom I'll check when the car is back from its paint rejuvenation.

Do most peeps keep the upshift arrow light working as designed? Irritating! Take bulb out? Some other work-around?

Kie,

I just ignore mine. You get to the point where you don't even notice it after a while.

Nice find!

Would leave the shifter light alone for it's originality.

But that's just me.

By the way, I am in the hunt for a 1984 928S 5speed, preferably silver with no sunroof, and as close to stock as possible.

Thanks!

Done. Shift light stays. For a while I was not able to figure out what was bothering me in the corner of my eye since by the time I had looked down from the road I had already pressed the clutch and the light was out.

What percentage of 928's have sunroof delete? 10% or less?

Not surprisingly, both are NLA. Kie, if you ever have nothing better to do, a high-res picture of each of those cool decals shot straight on, with a ruler in the pic would be great. I'll have some made if I can get a good template, so I can make some hang tags to educate the valets....
