Noob question: oil drain plug torque, 29 or 37 ft lbs (40 or 50 Nm)?
928 WSM on page 17-7 states 29+2 ft lbs (40 + 3 Nm), while in several 928 Rennlist threads from very experienced members (example: https://rennlist.com/forums/7732446-post24.html ) and web-pages (example: http://members.rennlist.com/pirtle/svc.html ) I have read to use 37 ft lbs (50 Nm).
Which torque setting to use and why (I'm planning to do several smaller maintenance jobs this weekend, and I tend to follow the WSM in general)?

37 seems much to high......I have the CDs with me BRB
WSM 17-7 does state 29 +2ft lbs......still seems high as the sump is aluminium........use a new gasket and torque carefully

I just use a new crush ring and torque by hand. Snug with no leaks has always worked for me. I'll put my digital wrench on it one of these days and see what it takes to back off my snug. My wrench measures on and off torque.

Jeff: I will be very interested to know what you digital wrench states for your "back off snug" torque value (I have been following your posts - which were very insightful! - with regards to your engine rebuild and you acquiring digital Snap-On wrenches as part of that process. I have been trying to find them in Finland, thus far no success yet...so my normal analogue ones will have to do, without those being able to measure off values).
