Mark Robinson does mid mount turbo kits...

Colin, if you do a WOT run just once and datalog it, you then put the results in the SharkPlotter program, and it will produce the optimised new fuel map. Load that back into the PEM and you're ready to roll.

I have Mark Robinson's mid-mount kit. I'm still sorting thru some intake leaks that are causing some bucking . Wish I could use the 87+ intake plenum set-up. The pipe organ wants to pull apart at 8 psi!
Once I get everything sealed up again, I'm going to run at 6psi.
Colin, have you pressurized your system to check for leaks? Tuning can be off if there are leaks in your system.

Ha! Real men do it hot! Why advance? Reduce overlap?

Typical turbo guy talk..."it'll do much better on the road."

Nice work, C!

No, AFAIK there are 3 other mid mounts. Dragonflyjones, Mark Robinson, And Abby Short, but I believe all 3 of them are on 85/86.5 cars. Though I know Abby has an S4 intake on his. So technically I think I am the first mid mount S4.

Change the intake to silicone couplers, T bolt clamps, and add Porken's torque rings, that will help prevent it from pulling apart.
I have not pressurized the intake. However I am confident that I have no leaks (short of the typical throttle body bearing leaks). The reason I say this is that I have very very few hoses under the intake. I only have the ISV and vacuum tube for the 5 way splitter connected, everything else is eliminated due to the vacuum pump.

I have yet to be able to get the Digital MTX to read correctly in the ST system, until I can sort that, the sharkplotter cannot be used. Also when tuning the car, we kind of cheated. I left the sharktuner hooked up to the EZK for monitering knocks, and adjusting that. While he opened my modified bin file in a very cool hexidecimal modifier that ran the program in real time with a ribbon cable and converter box. He modified the fuel map in real time, we were also able to see the factory base map (untouched), and modified map, he was able to select sections of the code (each map) copy them to a new tab, and then could convert them at a click into a 3D fully rotatable map. Once he finished tuning he just saved the BIN file with the changes, and I uploaded it back to the PEMS. He would adjust the AFR via my WB and was able to modify the MAP in large sectons at a time.

oops, forgot, I didnt save the dyno graphs. I am planning on going back and doing another run with everything not heat soaked to get a good number and pull a little more fuel out of the top end.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you aren't the first. I saw a mid mount turbo S4 in Bogota Colombia about three or so years ago. It was built by a guy named Hector. It ran really well as you can see in this video. Especially since Bogota is above 8,600' elevation. I haven't spoken to him in awhile so I don't know if he still has the car or not. He had a bunch of cars in his workshop that he had turbocharged. He runs Halltech's on most of his cars, including the 928. The 928 is a 1992 5 speed running a T-67 BB turbo w/ an A/A intercooler and methanol. He's big into drag racing and DE events. I've got pictures of his set-up somewhere. I'll try to dig them out.

I was recently in Bogota yep, y Si hablo espanol, Pero muy malo, Jaja.

And I don't care that I'm not the first to mid mount turbo an S4. I think I'm the first in Canada. This cold morning air sure feels good with boost!

Don't forget to make a sticker for your rear quarter window.

Had that damn short heater hose pop on me this morning. But other than that, she is still running like a scalded cat.

I put the butterfly for the flappy plate back in, and the car seems to have lost a little in the top end, but picked up a little more off the line.
This confirms to me that the S4 intake just does not have the required volume needed for the car. So intake fabrication is next I think. I got some piping, but am going to need to get a die for the bender.

I did a rolling start pull to show some of the acceleration. There is a slight amount of tire slip through first and second.

Hey Collin, what gear are you in when you hit 80? Shifting from 2nd to 3rd? Or 3rd to 4th? Your car sounds awesome!!!
