SeanR is correct when he said that speed differentials are what causes accidents.
I drive past at least 3 laser speed cameras on my way to work every day (and they switch sides in the evening). One is the Jeep, another is a HIghway patrol car with the camera unit mounted on the front.

Basically, they will catch people unfamiliar with the area.

OH and on the 'We need stronger testing' point. I think that is partially correct, however a lot of retards who think their driving is 'so precise' (I actually know people that call it 'precision driving') will drive perfectly for an exam then go out in traffic and drive like idiots.

I personally have no problem with enforcement devices. Sure I can drive as fast as I want (ON a RACETRACK). When I'm driving on PUBLICLY funded roads, I have to share the road, with brainless inattentive drivers. I really do not want to be going 85 in the left lane and some clown on the cell phone decides its a good time , for no reason at all, to just get in the left lane. The windows are too small and the faster you go the smaller the windows can be.

Lastly, Some people (not naming names but likely some of the forum members also) who think their driving is so great, are probably being called moron and fool by the people they cut off. I think everyone is guilty of an inattentive act (At least at some point in your life) and the same judgement we have for people that do something we shake our heads at while driving, we are likely to have generated the same judgement in others. When I had my motorcycle, and other cars I had a lot of idiotic behavior. Probably from being young, dumb, and full of courage. All it takes is a hard crash or two and you start to realize that its better to leave the high speed heroics to the closed circuit, where you are among fellow drivers who will not be paying attention to the song on the radio, or their ipod, or cellphone, or gps, or the coffee they just spilled, or the cig ember that just flew into the back seat (Etcetcetc).

Thought they were mid 90's or so but have to admit I never look that closely. They should be able to identify them, the signs clearly state the areas where they are located on the interstates. I have driven past two of them daily for the last 6 months or so in a construction zone where there is no chance of speeding during commute times and never see them go off. In off peak I could see getting nailed as I was pulled over by one of them a year or so ago doing 85mph at 3 am, since I wasn't the DUI he was looking for the nice LEO let me go with warning to slow down.

I know I get called a moron or ******* when I'm on the road. It's me avoiding all these other idiots out there.
