Belly Pans on early Vs. Late cars.
My '86 has a pan only under the very front. It covers the bottom of the radiator back to the front part of the oil pan. I've seen the S4 plus cars have a full pan, would it be advisable to upgrade to this later pan? Is it possible without significant fabrication? Besides the obvious protection offered, and presumably better air flow, would this alter running temps? Any other benefits/concerns? Thanks, Brian

You will still need one of the S4 belly pans, I highly recommend the aluminum reproduction that Mark at 928 International makes and sells..super strong and durable...and IIRC cheaper than a new stock "plastic" one.

I was going to say "don't give up hope" but then I noticed that this thread is 9 years old. Nevertheless, I have designed a version of the later pan that will fit the early cars and will be including that in my next development thread.
