Default Interior color floor mat selection

I have a black on black 88. I was going to order new floor mats. The current is black. The entire interior is black. Black headliner, black seats, black dash, black carpet. I was thinking of purchasing gray floor mats to offset all the blackness. I was talking to a buddy of mine about it, and he said "Isn't that kinda of 80's" He didn't know I was talking about an 80's car. lol

Has anyone out there done this? Any photos of interiors with alernating floor mat to interior color?

I have black set and grey set. Here is black interior with Grey set. does lighten up the inside. I use them for car shows as the black set is older.

Wow, very clean, I like it. Works with a silver car to offset. Anyone out there with a black car and dark gray mats?

Different steering wheel too...

I also have an '88 black on black. I went with red edging. Doesn't lighten the car but does provide some relief IMO. Here's an old pic before I repaired the rear seat & console box and installed the sub-woofer:

I also added red for some liners (they are barely visible when installed):

All a matter of personal taste of course

I have an interior out of an '89 that is black with slate gray, that works well.

On a similar note my burgundy interior are just as dark as the black on yours, I though adding some classic gray or slate gray would lighten this up some.

I thought I would give a shout out to a fellow member for the hookup on the darker gray mats from Lloyd. Thank you very much. Thought I would post the offset of color. I do like it better then all black.

I also went black and grey on my S4 to break up the all black gloom a little bit. I am pretty happy with the look, but the grey has been quite hard to keep looking good here in Honolulu where the dirt has a red color and stains. In spite of my best effort it does not look as good now as it did a year ago. I got some Tequiptment mats off ebay and the quality seemed to be better than the grey Lloyds mats I have in my other 928.

Thank you MrMerlin. I might scotchguard them to prevent staining.

Did these on the black interior of my BMW...

They are Cocomats. Black with gray dots.
Show no dirt, holds spills, and you just shake em to clean em, at worst hose em off.
Also when they got sun faded in the top down boxster, they were replaced free.
You might say I like them, had them in gray interior Boxster, Black interior BMW 325 and X3.
Still liking the factory classic gray in my classic gray interior GTS, but there is enough black that I think they would look good there too.

Danny - Do you have a URL for sunset? A google search of "sunset" + "auto" returns 83,700,000 results. I'm not too happy with my Lloyd mats as the blue isn't the same color as my carpet and I'd like to find raspberry to match my seats. Thanks! / Bruce

Sunset Porsche, they discount off of list price for porsche parts. I bought my Aero mirrors there, couldn't find them cheaper anywhere.
