Today I was running the car for a bit in the driveway and decided to test the trip meter reset. When I depress the button the warning annunciator noticably dims and there is a significant decrease in the voltmeter (not accurate to begin with but major jump downward).
As soon as I release the lights come back up bright and the voltmeter jumps back up.
Anyone seen this before? Is this a switch issue or ground?
Thanks

only reset the odo when the car is stopped,'
the dimming is normal for your car after it has aged 25 years
what your activating is a solenoid in the odometer head this is a big draw of power compared to the rest of the head unit so some dimming may occur,
if you wanna clean the grounds that might reduce it some but after 25 years I would expect this

Thanks. I have read the warning on the odo reset.
Odo has been inop since I got the car and on my to do list along with a refresh of the rest of the pod instrument connections.

clean the foil connections with an eraser then wipe off with a Q tip and alcohol,
dont touch the slide on connectors tighten the screws on the rear of the pod and clean the speedo slide on pins where the foil connects
