Does anyone have a rear muffler for a 78-79 in good condition at a reasonable price to sell? Trying to keep my '79 5speed Silver/Blk with 37K as original as possible.

Has anyone changed out a pumpkin with a new muffler ( ie: Borla etc) so for the outside
it looks like a pumpkin with the shield and the same tips?
I would like to keep the appearance of the stock pumpkin as well but with a different note and more efficient muffler

The common exchange in the old days was an Ansa. I have a couple of those for the older cars. My 78 rusted out at the inlet tube but the rest was good so I just welded it up and painted it. Came out great. I might also have a pumpkin off an 84. Not sure if I will part the car out yet though.

I've been looking for a new one for my 79 for a long time. Kept sending annual e-mails to the parts suppliers. Mine is also completely original and still has the original muffler, though I have to patch it up annually and it is pretty hallow. So I'm in too in any are out there.

Interesting, good to know there is that option. I've asked the local dealer and they haven't been able to get one for years. I had assumed that they were checking with Porsche in Germany. How would I check with them? I'd prefer to buy a new OEM.
Thanks!

So here is how it breaks down to this date:
MY78 - 928 111 031 03 - QTY 20+ avail., $773, from Germany (Sunset Porsche used as reference)
MY79 - 928 111 031 04 - NLA
MY80-82 - 928 111 931 00 - QTY 14 avail., $782, from Germany (Sunset Porsche used as reference)
My guess is 80-82 won't directly fit w/o modifications. Probably need to graft on a 4-bolt flange, and a battery box hanger extension.
Best chances for good fit would be to use the MY78. Not sure the differences though. Anybody know?

I think the 78 is a one year only as it bolts on to the floating battery box.
While we are looking I am looking for a spare tire cover made from particle board for a 78, a Stainless steel gas cap and a battery box cover.
