My 5.0l Hybrid motor was a nice reliable motor with 300rwhp....
The stroker motor has had its share of issues, but not directly related to the actual motor. Bad water-pump took out valves, broke drive shaft, destroyed transmission twice......

I dont think there has been too many failures of the hybrids has there.

speed and lubrication of the crank. yes, an engine has intermittant knocks, better have harder bearings surfaces, but that is probably the reason of most of the 928 failures, besides poor warm up (which is my theory watching most ALL race cars on the grid on any race day! )

everyone fully understands how strongly you stand behind the 928 engine WITH S4 style oiling system....but regardless of warmup-oil-driving style SO many 928 engines have been destroyed on track with this oiling setup....
Everyone also understands that you drive hard.....but its YOU & ONLY YOU can keep 928 engines alive on track with this setup.....so the "magic" part of the formula stays the same.....everyone else who tries it blows engines (ask me how I know x3, sean x4, countless others) who drive the same tracks.....
Granted the Estate makes 1/2 the HP of yours...but has more time on track in the past 2 years than any other 4 race 928's combined.....with drivers of every level-ability... Yes you did a "season" of sprint racing...but seriously...that is maybe 8 hours of racing? The estate does that in 1 DAY....NO OTHER race 928 EVER has been an endurance racer (other than the mid 80's LeMans car)...
While I am not advocating intentionally blowing up your car.....I am sure that other well known 928 racers would quickly grenade your engine....even using the same rules I run the estate by (6000rpm and lower)
until you are willing to "test" the stock S4 system with ANY driver.....you really can't speak of its strengths when you are the ONLY PERSON to have success with it....

His driving style seems to be very good for the 928 and his times are very good, imagine if he had the power and resources for a higher rwhp racer....he'd wipe those gt3's all over the place....

However it does have a drysump.....so it will run as long as the transmission will let it.....

Now, go ahead and count you engines that blew as proof, but you and I both know those engines had very shakey starts and dont forget the one that you ran with k-mart oil and about 4 quarts low for a few hours on the track too!
The others, go look at the builders. what i do know, is it isnt just me. ive built a few of these, scot is still racing his and has a lot of time on his engine now. ive run 4 diferent engins and had no issues AND pulled a few of them apart after some intense use, only to see perfect wear (none).
so, I dont think its me. you can watch my videos, and there is no other way to drive the darn car racing, except to redline, WOT and run it deep to the brake zones. go around the car at near the limit of adhesion and then WOT out of the turns. not that complicated. Howeer, there are some guys that think they are going easy on their car by not going to redline or short shifting and Ive tolld and reported of what ive seen on very fast, but short shifting cool down laps and oil pressure seems ton not like it. one possiblity. the other, are guys that like to run redlinearound a sweeper and then shift at the exit birm. (could be dangerous). and lastly, the warm up program. dont heat soak the engine before you race and there is a good chance that things might not get lubricated properly, or will wear more. Also, and I cant stress this enough, you better use an oil that doesnt fall on its face at 260F temps. thas all Ill say about that.
If there was ANY truth to the myth that there is an engine problem with the 928 vs other engines of smilar power and size, i would have seen at least one of my engines with some wear or failure issues and i just havent. want to see me change my driving style to prove its no me, what do you suggest I do?
another thing is that we RAREly see anyone elses video tape of them driving, if ever. what has been hiding???? something else is going on that noone is talking about. ANYONE that is racing, should have a video rolling for a number of reasons.
So, with that, you better get your license this season and come out and race wtih us, or I will with you and the NASA folks.

NASA is a better fit for me and the Estate...sure I could run with you in AV8SS but I would get crushed....vs NASA GTS2 where the estate is a nice fit in terms of lap times.....I just need to add a bit of ballast, about 75lbs to make it work
Knowing NASA race directors helps too (Jeff).....plus Petty could race his 928 as is...even without the bigger motor, it would look something like this:
Estate GTS2 (14.5-1)
Petty GTS3 (11.0-1 class, he is 12.3 now..could go as high as 254whp)
Scott GTS4 (8.5-1 class)
MK GTS4 or GTS5 (6.6)
Sean might bring his supercharged monster down....but I don't know how much it weighs

I am planning on finally getting a "real" race license...but need to take a hard look at which "group" I want to run with.....

Here is a deal for you, just come out and race with us in AV8SS. the comradery is something worth the price of admission alone. they give out $1000s of dollars of prizes, and you will have some great battles, which is why I race anyway (aside from continuing to master your craft). the parties afterward at the Sutak trailer are awesome! food , drink , music, fun! Its better than anything you have done, so give it a try!
here is what you do. get the license and do a little of both. thats what getting started with racing should be about. experience it all!
