Default Battery well sizes

Going to get a new battery for the 86.5, my understanding the only change to speak of to the 86.5's are the brakes and suspension. My 86 had a large well which supports the 900 CCA battery it calls for, my 86.5 has a small well. I kept the new battery from the 86 to put into the 86.5 but it doesn't fit. The best I can tell the models above 86 require a smaller CCA battery, 750 range. Any ideas about the size change in the same body style. Thanks, Jack

I think the battery well size change came with the change in the exhaust. That would mean '86.5 and up have the smaller well.

Makes sense forgot about the exhaust change. I have found several things that have to be looked at like it was an 87.
