No, I'm not catching that cup car...... I hit 125 on the backstraight just before this bustop and he's at ~155. In this picture I'm ~72-73.

Curious... looks like you're on your street tires. How fast do you burn through a set?

Also looks like a ton of fun. Hoping to get the Kraken out there soon, maybe even at the Glen.

Second event on those tires and I bought them used last year. They are a bit old 2006's but in good shape and half tread left still. Usually get 3-4 season from a set of tires and (3) - 2day events per year.

Waiting for vid from a friend that caught me going sideways in the toe of the boot. I put ~100 miles (30ish laps) of track time per day and spent ~1/2 tank of fuel per day.

To put it in other terms I think on that straight the IRL cars are ~185 and NASCAR ~175. My lap times are ~2:30 in a stock S4 (weighed a few years ago at 3414) with Street tires, original suspension, RMB, Hawk Plus Pads, 993 18" Solid Twist wheels (225 and 265) and 260 lbs driver, IRL set the record at 1:30 and most club racers are working their asses off to get to 2:00.

Please keep posting these. Every time I see one I get closer to pulling the trigger.

I signed up for an autocross in a couple of weeks just to see what it will be like to drive my car on anything but the street. Can't wait to do a DE. Hopefully in the spring!

Thanks for the info. Been jonesing to get my car on the track for years now and it's time to **** or get off the pot. I need to stop procrastinating and just do it. No reason not to and if I wait until my car is 100% I'll be waiting forever.

Curt,

As I've said privately, and want to say publicly. THANKS to all of you in Niagara Region for putting on a wonderful DE earlier this week.

I've probably been to 20 DE's at the Glen, and another 20 or so at other tracks over the past 10 years - sponsored by ~15 different PCA Regions. In my opinion, the "total package" of this Niagara DE exceeded any of the others I've attended at truly TEACHING better car handling skills, both in the classroom and then having them practiced at moderate speeds on the track for about 10 minutes twice during the DE.

The quality of the driving was also excellent, (with only one incident which was related to vehicle handling, and that was by a driver who was actually INCOMPETENT in both his Mustang and BMW). The "instructor program" for seasoned drivers I found extremely rewarding. I'm sure I dropped several seconds off my lap time between the arrival on Monday morning, and the departure on Tuesday afternoon. I'd been stuck in the ~2:26-30 region for a long time, and the suggestions by the instructor were exceedingly helpful. I didn't have any "clean laps" where I could time myself while driving solo, but I'm confident the times are noticeably better, and the car likes several of the corners MUCH better with the modification in lines I'm now using.

Well done my friend.

PS: for those of you seeking to experience the true capability of your 928, PLEASE do it on a track, not the street. Those interested in doing so at the Glen (which is one of the two best tracks for a 928 of the dozen or so tracks I've driven on) should register for the Niagara event in the spring (or the one next October). They run a first class event, as evidenced by the 175 cars that registered for this past event - 4 run groups, no problems with the number of total cars in each group at this long track. Green groups can fill up fast, as it is limited by the number of available instructors.

Bump......

We just opened registration for this years events, get off your asses and get to the glen with us. Even David Murray said the glen is still his favorite track.....

Even if you don't don't join us, try any of your local tracks it is a riot.

Just as a note: we usually get 150 drivers per event and for our May event as of yesterday I had ~30 cars signed up.

928's belong on track......for anyone thinking about taking their 928 to a DE event...DO IT....I did way back in 2006....in Sharky, my very nice 88 S4 auto...no regrets.....Sharky loved the track and learning in an automatic is easier, since you don't worry about shifting!
