Default FS 1988 928S4 5-speed - 23k miles & bone stock

SOLD

Hi folks. I haven't posted a lot since purchasing this car which you regulars may remember:

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-for-sale.html

I've been busy driving it, and it needs nothing other than to be driven and enjoyed. This car is my 2nd Porsche (have a 1979 930 I bought 4 years ago) and it has been nothing short of a revelation. I love the V8 engine, I love the performance, I love the fact that it all comes together without sacrificing comfort and convenience. Hence its been seeing much more use than my 930 over the last year.

So why sell? This car has made me realize that I want this level of performance, sophistication and luxury everytime I get behind the wheel. In the winter when the snow flies and the roads are salty, the 928 must stay parked. When the wife and I take a roadtrip and load up our two large dogs, the 928 stays home. I realize that I want just a bit more utility out of my GT car, and I can't subject such a special car to that kind of abuse.

Financially, I don't need to sell. I can afford to purchase the next car now, but my garage and marriage won't accomodate a 4th automobile. I also believe that cars need to be driven. Even if I can afford to keep it, I don't have time to give 4 cars the proper care and attention I think they deserve. Its been hard enough splitting my attention between the 2 Porsches I have (3rd car is a MINI, wife's daily driver)...I know, I know...nice "problem" to have and I count my many blessings daily.

Keep the 928 and sell the 930 you say? I've invested too much $$, blood, sweat & tears into the 930 at this point (rebuilt the engine myself). I couldn't stomach selling it (and would be lucky to get $.50 on the dollar out of it). If this weren't the case, I'd have a tough time deciding which car stays and which car goes. Nope, I need to keep the 930 and enjoy it to extract the value out of it. Its also a special car although with a much narrower range of use than the 928, but when its in the sweet spot its .

Not many around like this one. Looking to get what I paid $28.5k

Please pass along to anyone who may be interested.

Maybe a tad high on the price, but it's a nice one!

What GT are you thinking on getting that is so good, yet practical! :-)

Good luck with the sale.

That's two low-mileage 88's for sale in the last couple of weeks. Be curious to see what they end up selling for. Hope they both go to good homes.

This is how my '88 sees itself in its dreams. And in mine.

That's a pretty 928, I feel your pain having to live with a two-car garage :-(

If you really must part with it, you might talk with Michael Willhoit in MO who specializes in finding new homes for really special cars like yours. Sure would be nice if it ends up with us down here in Texas!

I suppose neither fits precisely into the GT category, but the vehicles I am considering that I believe will combine the performance, luxury, and utility that I want are:

Mercedes Benz E63 AMG wagon
Cadillac CTS-V Sport wagon

(please note that the Panamera is not included because its an ugly POS. If Porsche hadn't tried so hard to make that car not look like a wagon, it might have actually came out looking decent)

Based on the low mileage, Option 220 with a 5 speed and Capt. Earl's association with this car, I would say it's a fair price.

Not really, it already recently sold for that amount. It's a premium car and commands a premium price - at least as far as 928s go. Sadly, a run of the mill 964 is right in the same price range, and it's hardly in the same league.

Nice car. It is rare to find a low mile car that needs no maintenance like this one.
