Intake refresh finally done...

Bill, the Blink'r is available any time...
You dyno'ed your car? Tell us more? Where, how much, what were the numbers? I did 264 RWHP in 09 at the OCIC dyno day. That was before chips and X-pipe, so ready for another go!
I found a dyno down on 59 and Beltway 8 I was thinking about talking to about working a deal for a Houston 928 dyno day.

With the extent of cleaning that almost invariably comes with the intake job and it is a pain in the **** to clean it all bent over the fenders, I've always include upgrading the crankcase breather system and eliminate the oil collection in the intakes. I have found that it is always easier to vacuum out the pizza crumbs and whatever else falls into the V minus the pools of oil.

I did order the complete kit from Roger. Not small vac lines though. As you can see, I substituted virtually all of the small rubber elbows and the 7-way with my own concoction. I don't think Roger typically includes those bits in his recommended kit. The balance came in one package from 928srus. I don't want to remember what the $ damage was - and I sure as heck don't want my wife to know. I had stabbed the ISV and TPS prior to this job, so the expense would be a bit greater if those parts have not previously been replaced.

Don - there are some guys right in Spring that dyno'd mine. I want to say $100 for 3 pulls, but it may have been $125. I got 256rwhp, and showing the previously mentioned drastic unmetered air leak - that was WITH the x-pipe and Ken's chips. that's what got me off dead-center to dive in to the intake. At 3rdCoast last year, Bill Ball suggested my vac leak might even be coming from around my injector o-rings. The sum total of data suggested I man up and fix the damn intake. It'll be interesting to see if my thoughts are on target with a 35hp or so gain. Again, it's like a different car.
I think a Houston dyno day would be a blast. Maybe we can work a deal with these guys and spend a Saturday am with the ever growing Houston crew. If we can get our ducks rowed-up, maybe 11-19?
And Shane - you're right - laying flat faced on top of the motor with a can of degreaser, a toothbrush, and a fist full of rags, is included in the list of "Things you have to do that suck". For some reason I couldn't talk Teri into helping with that portion of the party. Her squirrel paws did come in handy during re-assembly though!

I wanted to start ordering all the pieces, i needed to complete the job.
On the 928GT site, when I put in all the parts I needed, it totaled apx $500.00.
I was wondering if Rodger's kit would have all the necessary parts.
I also want to change my leaking cam covers and powder coat at the same time.

Roger at 928sRus has a complete list you can pick from, depending on what you feel you need though.

Yeah - I'll leave the details to Roger. All I know is - 928 parts are expensive as hell, installation of said parts is a pain in the ***, and driving the crap out of those same parts is just about as much fun as a guy can have with his clothes on.

Good plan. One of the suppliers- or a freelancer-- I think a 944 guy was doing it for a bit-- should run a reasonable powdercoat/exchange program. See old posts by Dave Schaeffer/928 Metalworks.

Bill, job looks grea but the grimy oil filler cap hurts to look at compared with the rest. So, I'll share my private, just for a few special owners, 2-minute cure for the grimy yellow cap syndrome. Pull the cap and take it to the sink. Grab the can of Comet cleanser. Apply Comet to the part. Gentle scrubbing with a sponge. Rinse. Repeat. Comes out better than new. A little of your favorite car wax seals the deal, hopefully helping it stay cleaner a little longer. Hint: Don't use your grubby garage hands to put the clean part back on. or you'll be doomed to an endless scrub-rinse-repeat loop.
