Heinrich,

Yours housing looks sand blasted. Can't tell form the pics but is the idler "stump" side, freshly machined or is it like the rest of the housing?

Heinrich:

The marking "APC" clearly IDs this as a pump remanufactured by AUTO-PAC, formerly known as APC (among other names).
http://www.auto-pac-apc-water-smog-pump.com/home

"We have formaly (sic) been under the names of Repco full life, Automotive Parts Center, APC, Auto-Pac,Dragon-up"

Lot's of interesting "typos" all over their website.

The pulley sure looks painted - compare it to Rob's plated original. After reading more at AUTO-PAC, I think the pulley was lightly sand blasted. Regardless, your pump is pictured here (11th one down) on the AUTO-PAC site.:

Also, note this statement re: PCNA...

http://auto-pac-apc-water-smog-pump.com/about_us

"We have been Remanufacturing O E M water and smog pumps for Porsche cars of North America since 1990."

So, you could construe this as a "Porsche rebuilt" unit.

And note regarding the sand blasted appearance:
"Step 4, Resurfacing of each part,
Each part will be resurfaced with a fine special sand carefully sand blasted by hand..."

Thanks Bill pretty much what I had said.....APC after that there was no question..."rebuilt" . And the Porsche rebuilts came from APC. For many years the quality was good but that was then..........plus the current owner, the son of the original founder, does not do business the way his father did.
That is about all I will say.....

Only one place for that pump - trash.
Rebuilt how many times??
Metal impeller.
No additional bushing on the impeller shaft.
The only positive is it has a Porsche casting - however the casting - pressure or sand - has nothing what so ever to do with the performance of the pump.

Choices = Laso $285 or Porsche new $1000.

And here I thought I had closed this thread It was the body, not the rollers, that interested me .... I was looking for a Porsche un-rebuilt housing.
