The glass is what I need to remove as mine has a bad defrost grid. I will have a glass shop do it but I wanted to get it prepared best as I can by removing inner and outer trim, spoiler and wipers.

Look for traces where water may be draining and flowing down the interior hatch trim. You can fix leaks on those screws by removing the screw and putting a dab of silicone on it and reinserting screw.
It is perfectly centered in the top middle of the hatch glass.

Are you sure it's the glass that's leaking? The hatch seal itself is notorious for leaking top/middle where it meets the lid. Telltale is that there's water markings on the painted steel and the interior trim right at the top edge of the hatch. When the glass leaks, the water drips from the glass and/or from the third brakelight.

The hatch seal is new within the last 8 months. There is a wet spot on the glass sealant when it rains that drips down the glass and onto the interior trim and then onto the rear center console.

Leaving water spots all along the way. I'm pretty sure it's the sealant that is failing.

I am going to remove the hatch glass only for the purpose of replacing the glass with known working grid. Mine does not leak but I will pay close attention to keeping it that way. Herman K sent me a rear hatch with glass installed so it made the trip to Seattle from Texas in great shape. Herman took great care in packaging also.

Did you remove the trim to inspect the glass seal? Any gaps should be visible and may even be fixable.

Supercedar, If your grid is bad, repaint it. Use a VOM to find the break(s) in the grid. Clean the damaged areas, mask off and repaint the lines. Check E-BAY under r/c airplane parts for conductive paint and glue. If the edge contact is broken off the grid, you can re-glue it with the r/c silver glue.

Thank you for your input. Mine are damaged beyond repair from packing the luggage too tight in back area then driving like a mad 928 owner up 101 from sharktoberfest. Grids are toast, I have the replacement glass.

Anyone remove all the trim and have it re-anodized?
