If you are talking about the white palstic(teflon/delrin) seal that has the black o-ring under it that seals the fluid between left and right side of rack? see this page>http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...begins-10.html "I rebuilt the steering rack with a kit from Rennbay. Everything went good and I will cross my fingers that it doesn't leak. A couple of seals were wrong in the kit. They were the ones on the center part of the shaft that seals the left side from the right. I probably didn't need to replace these seals(plastic and o-ring under) but I had already cut them off. I was able to find the seals at an aircraft seal supply place run by an old couple. They let/helped me look through the building until I found something that would work. I had to grind(Dremel) the non-critical inside diameter some to make this Delrin seal fit over its carrier. The rack boots were a struggle to install especially when my hands got tired from the struggle."

If this is it I have a couple of extra I can send you. The merchant gave me a handful. I will send you one I fabricated and one that is unfabricated. Give me your name and address. Gunar

Ray & Gunnar,
You both have the same kit - mine are from Rennbay as well.
It is the only available kit that I am aware of. Maybe the seal was just missing from the kit???

Is it item #26 in the illustration that you are missing and are those dimensions correct?

Hi Roger, hate to bother you, know you about as busy as a one arm paper hanger (no offence ) anyway it is #6 i believe, Gunnar has kindly offered a replacement and i am taking him up on it. I suspect that ring is no longer put in the kit for some reason. If Gunnar did not get one and i did not get one? You might go back to supplier and question that thou. Thank you both,Ray

O-ring #6 (the backup o-ring in the center piston seal) and #31 (the o-ring on the saddle-shaped guide block) are very similar- perhaps identical. They are "fat" o-rings of around 32mm OD, 26mm ID if my notes are correct.

The last Rennbay/Roger kit that I got included only one such o-ring, which I believe was intended as a replacement for #6 not #31. The latter is a non-critical o-ring, just there to make sure the puddle on the floor comes from the end of the rack and not the cover plate (#34).

The other part that I believe is not included in the Rennbay/Roger kit is the #30.1 "saddle" liner (incorrectly marked as "10.1" in the photo). This is the plastic bushing that supports the rack at its engagement with the pinion. It is a wear item, as is the #24 bushing at the other end. The rack rod is supported between the #24 busing on the passenger side, and on the driver's side between the pinion gear and the guide block (parts #30-34).

Cheers,

No, I was wrong-- the missing o-ring in my kit was the o-ring under the plastic center seal-- I got the wrong number completely. Looks like Gunar has you covered, and sorry for the confusion.

I mailed it today. In my Rennbay kit I was also missing the black rubber o-ring that goes under the delrin plastic one I am sending you. I have extras but the sizes all look similar. Let me know if you need this also. Gunar
