Talked to him on Saturday and we had a very enjoyable conversation. Really sorry to hear about the car but the important thing is everyone is ok.

Yes, it's true, I proved once again that even at 58 you're never too old for a stupid juvenile moment. I almost had the '90 GT finished to show condition - oh well. I just thank God that no one was hurt, especially since my 27 year old son was with me.
Sean, delightful talking with you about the GTS, guess I'm a bit too late...

When you are too old to have a juvenile moment dig a hole 6 feet deep and jump in. Very sad to read of your loss-been there done that 6 years ago and it is really depressing. At least I had someone else to blame and their insurance to claim compensation from.
Seems to be a recurring theme of how these cars take serious attrition and yet nearly always protect their occupants from serious attrition in their final battle. I reckon that is the ultimate testament to a great car [friend?].
Hopefully you will be back in a 928 before too long. If the driveline is OK just get yourself a good but TBF'd S4/GTS and transplant.
Best wishes
