Default Battery selection

What's the lightest battery that fits the hole? How about the cheapest?

Never drive it in the Winter so no real power needs. I need to tie it down for track inspections and do so using the stock size with lips at the bottom.

Lots of views; no posts.

Who has bought a battery in the last year? What did ya think of it and the price?

Not entirely clear what your real goal is - if you want super light you will have to go with a smaller footprint battery which will require an alternate mount than the bottom end tabs. Any battery that long will be pretty heavy I think. If you can make up an alternate mounting system you could go as small as a 15Ah Odyssey MC680 style - about 17Lbs I think. This is also well less than half the stock size - suitable for track but probably not really practical for daily driving... a very small RC.

Certainly not the cheapest option though

There are three manufacturers that make all the different battery brands sold in the US. Consumers Reports has the breakdown by brand/manufacturer. Get one made by Johnson Controls (such as Interstate).

If you want a real light weight racing battery try Braille "No Weight" batteries - again, not cheap.

You can get crazy light with a Lion Battery. But be prepared to spend $2300.
