Default Looking for a DEVEK Crossbrace

This is the Crossbrace that goes from fender to fender over the top of the engine. If anyone has one, I'd be interested in purchasing it.

Thx!

Chuck - I think you're in luck. Saw this on ebay and wondered when I saw the blue color. Although it says OEM, it's the same color as my Devek brace. / Bruce

Probably because of the distinctive and cool design. for the later cars, I like that brace too.
Sorry Chuck...don't have one.

Fraggle,
I have one my 79 and like it. Plain but nicer than stock. I'm not really into carbon fiber, etc.

Jim, just continuing to clean up engine bay. Brace is part of it.

Bruce, thx for the heads up, that does look like one!

I thought Bruce was kidding, it looked like a stock one painted blue. Sorry Chuck.

Is the DEVEK somehow better than an original steel brace? The later aluminum ones are flimsy.

I'd like one that triangulates to the shock tops. No real reason besides that it'd be Cool.

Glen - From the catalog: "Looking for a faster "turn-in", or less front-end body flex? Then replace your aluminum factory bar (probably already bent!) with our chrome-moly Strut Tower Brace. This brace is of the correct geometry and size (unlike other aftermarket bars) to replace the factory unit. Since the main force acting on this brace is compression, this unit properly constructed and TIG welded and will not fatigue over time like other materials. A perfect mate to our Sway Bar available in DEVEK blue to match or also available in black." Price $189 in 2002 catalog.

I won it in a drawing at Sharkfest somewhere in south Texas in 2003...

Attached is a picture from way back--long before I pulled the engine and cleaned it up. Looking back, that damn bar was the cleanest thing under the hood!

/ Bruce

No. Early stock ones are steel. I've got one. At least I think it's original. I recall a conversation with a representative of a well-known dismantler and he confirmed that. He was also surprised that I asked for metal brake duct inlets. I busted one and wanted a replacement. Apparently a weird early S product.

I got a later barnot knowing the difference for a project and was surprised at how light, and flimsy, the later bars are.
