Default What's the going rate for a rebuilt CIS fuel distributor?

As the title implies.

This Ferrari guy rebuild them for $400.

Anyone care to venture a guess as to the value of a new-old-stock (NOS) one?

I know alot of you CIS guys have been doing this longer than me. I have a lot to learn. Your help is much appreciated.

Last I checked it was $1200. But that could be Bosch-rebuilt by now....
Long ago I decided to start acquiring Euro spares.

Rebuilders include an individual operating through Ebay for $150 I think,
Special T Auto for about $475
Your Ferrari contact...

I'm sure there are some others. A couple list/OC members used to offer to tend to an ailing unit from time to time.

It's a pain in the *** to rebuild so expect to pay $4-$500.

Somebody here recently used an ebay service that was $150. Worked out well for him. Don't remember the post or name, but he had tried a MB aluminum one and was mucking with that for a long time first.

400 bux is a steal, grab it and don't look back. I had a 911SC, and would have jumped at 400 bux.

That's what I was referring to Jim. NOS would be quite a bit more but why?

H, when you said "grab it and don't look back", I became confused if you were referring to a rebuilt unit (where of course, a core is req'd), or some thing that may be purchased (NOS).
Grab it typicaly implies a tangible... so I thought maybe you had a line on one.

There's a NOS one availble for $600.

The fellow on E-Bay that does the rebuilds just replaces the o-rings, same thing you can do yourself using the PDF write-up that's been available for years. The E-Bay rebuilder DOES NOT replace the metal diaphragm between the two halves. He doesn't do anything you can't do following the write up. I have a buddy who used his services and is happy with the results.

I used the writeup to rebuild my fuel distributor, the only thing I did different was to use Permatex Aviation Form-a-gasket instead of the Indian Head Shellac. Eventually I had to replace the FD because of a tear in the metal diaphragm. I picked up a rebuilt FD from:

JayTan Industries

I've had it in my US '79 since January, very happy with it. They can either rebuild yours or you can do the core swap with them. They DO replace the metal diaphragm as part of their rebuild process. I ordered mine on 12/24, their rep seemed anxious to give me a good price since they had one in stock, my out the door price after getting my core charge back was $379. YMMV, my good deal could've been the result of spiked eggnog. There was a delay in getting the core charge, so if going that route make sure you stay on top of them. But overall a great product.
