Help! Front Koni Nut
Well kudos to Koni as they responded very positively to us ------
Roger,
I checked the inventory that we have here in house and all nuts and threading on the top of the shock match. The thread pitch listed for the dampers matches what you gave below are as follows;
8240 1085 (front) - M12 x 1.5 (Hardware kit includes 1 nut, 1 lock washer, and a white plastic bump plate)
8240 1086 (rear) - M12 x 1.25 (Hardware kit includes 1 nylock nut and a white plastic washer)
I have also sent a message to the plant as well to have them check their current inventory. Also, the sales manager for the US has been notified of the issue and we are in the process of having the stock that we can find be checked as well so as to capture the issue as much as we can. For any current customer that have the dampers but not yet installed on the damper, please have them check that the hardware included with the shock screws onto the end of the piston rod before starting the installation (by hand please and only up to the nylock on the rears until ready to tighten for final installation). If they have incorrect hardware, please have them contact our tech line or warranty department via 800-922-2616 and we will make sure that we send the correct hardware out as quickly as possible.
From reading the message from Shawn, if there was a production run where the thread pitch was M12 x1.25 for the front, I sadly do not have any stock to confirm this. If Shawn wants to swap out the shocks, please have him contact us and we will take care of it direct. Thank you.

Thanks for making the call, Roger! I discovered this when I took my shocks to the local Pep Boyz to have them assembled, and there was this moment of panic when they thought they'd stripped the threads. Went right out and bought my own spring compressor.
That was in 2008, probably says something about the number of 928-specific Koni Reds they've sold in the past 4 years that this is still an issue.

How cool is it that he would take the time to contact Koni and have them fix this issue?
Amazing service!
