The black that Porsche used on some bolts was a type of Nitride IIRC,

 

I like the silver looking nickel plating for steel. Very robust and quite shiney. Expensive.

Also, the "grey" or "silver" cat is great.

Both would work will with the black anodizing.

 

A while back I was looking into having my metal kitchen table refinished (it's currently gun blue) and I ran across a couple of blogs where old-timers were restoring turn of the century pistols using an acid wash process that produced this really great looking, & supposedly durable, black finish. I always thought it would be great to use on something small. I'll see if I can dig some links up tonight when I get home and post them.

 

i use metal black which is a cold process done in the workshop

 

zinc with yellow chromate looks OEM. Black Oxide is nice looking also.
