Sean - Sorry to see this—but thankfully no one’s hurt. My 84 was side-swiped the DAY before selling it by a lady in Hondo last month. Because it was her fault and I didn't have full coverage, my insurance company said contact her company and deal with them directly; but if you need us, we're here for you. In my case, I contacted them, they sent me a list of ~150 different shops they partnered with near San Antonio and I picked one for the estimate. Becuase I was pressed for time, they sent me a check within a couple days.

As long as the other driver doesn't have "The General" insurance or some other cheap-*** company, you'll probably be fine. I agree with others—take the cash, put the big parts on yourself and have it painted at a reputable shop. Good luck, and again, glad no one was hurt. / Bruce

I had that EXACT damage on my car. Make sure you get a quote to REPLACE and not to FIX. I had to sue the insurance company because the clown they sent out didn't know it was an aluminum car, so he basically said "thatll buff right out". The damage was that extensive. Get signed testimony to the effect that the car is aluminum and the cost to replace is cheaper than the cost to repair, or otherwise you are screwed. It was a terrible hassle to have to deal with, and even then, the lawyer fees ate up the extra money I got, and even that wasn't what it ought to have been, because insurance companies hire some real shysters...

Good luck getting it fixed. You might get lucky and get a used panel off of someones parts car. It'll be significantly cheaper to fix on your own dime, which, in my experience, is what is likely to happen, at least partially.

Sean--every time I turn around somebody is plowing into your shark. Glad nobody was hurt but we need to get some sort of force field to put around this thing....

Hearing these stories of people backing into our 928s has me seriously considering getting a high decible air horn to wake up the driver blindly backing up. The stock 928 horn just doesn't seem that loud.

I want them to think they are about to be hit by a train if they are backing up towards my car.

I went to a NAPA store. Sorry I forgot the part numbers, but on the shelf they had low and high frequency volume adjustable horns. The fit was perfect - they look just like the stock horns.

Now they're almost annoying loud, and when I need them I'm glad they are.

Sorry to hear Sean!

Just take the car in and have them fix it, you don't have time to F with it!!

Calliber Collision that Did Jim's car is a really good shop. I know the mgr there, he might bump you up in line.
