it seems that making those bushings out of Derlin or Polyurethane would not be to hard. might even be able to ditch the metal bushing in the center...

I am about 2 months into that project already. Had a pause to go to Bonneville.

We have poly bushings in hand now for some of the rear links, and I am molding or locating the others. I hope to have some rear polyurethane kits out by Christmas.

These bushings handle a Bunch of pressure and pulling. I would be concerned about delrin "running" or what some call "cold flowing".

Maybe its good that I am no longer waiting and just putting "A" car together with all the pieces I have collected since 2000. I'll have one car with all the pieces that are no longer made - gears, bushings, seals, etc.

Well, guys thanks for the input. In any case I ordered 2 main bushings and 4 of the dog bone bushings as per Roger and Mr. Merlin. As I have a low mileage example that should do me. I think the bushings for the pin connections will not be required.

I agree. And Delrin has very poor abrasion resistance. The first steering rack mounts I made were Delrin, and they didnt last 6 months before they were worn out and sloppy. Thats when we went to aluminum in our steering rack mounts. The Delrin models never made it past prototyping before they were rejected.

Carl,

That is great news to hear. I guess I will hold off on my purchase then. Will your bushings be replacement for all rear bushings (specifically lower rear control arms) and will they have the same hardness as factory, or will they be "near-zero deflection" ?

Cheers!

At the moment, I am focused on shock bottoms in the rear. I am making an adapter that will allow the use of any race shock with a standard 1/2" heim joint top and bottom... this will open the world to us 928 owners away from just Koni's or Bilstein's. That's what I have nearly completed.

I have the last new rubber parts for the rest of the rear links from Stuttgart to model off of in my possession, and after I finish the shock mounts, I will be going through the rest of the rear suspension one-at-a-time.
