Windsheild Replacement - Boston Area
#18
Since it was direct bill to my insurance company, I didn't see the total cost. The invoice copy I got has no costs on it.
Hey Jim - I didn't realize how bad the old glass was - not pitted, but that Sekuraflex plastic coating on the inside of the OE windsheild was kind of hazy...

Bilal - I just received confirmation from my insurance company of direct payment to JN Phillips for winsheild and installation: $604.77. I hope this is helpful.
Upon closer inspection, the job they did was "OK", not the best. It appears that they removed the drip rails along the roof, rather than just pulling the trim off from the edges near the windsheild (work prevented me from waiting with the car). This was evidenced by the numerous light scratches along the roof and B-pillar, as well as scratches just about everywhere they touched. Being a black car, it scratches if you look at it sideways. I was able to polish everything out.
This is Sigla glass, shipped from Finland, and it has the Sigla stamp on the lower left of the windsheild (driver's side). One thing I noticed is that the blackout area on the lower edge of the windsheild doesn't seem to cover as much as the original Sekuriflex - you can see where the leather dash cover ends, revealing the felt cushion between the dash and glass. Not a big deal, but a detail difference.
Overall, I am happy with the glass and the fact that nothing was damaged beyond some light scratches (now gone). If I had to do it again, I might be inclined to find shop with specific 928 experience.
