Nice meter set-up. Hot! What temps would you have seen at a 60-120mph cruise on the same day, do you think?

Why is the light on on the water temp guage?

Where did you tap the oil sender?

The temps drop once i get on the open road...and drop even more up around 80+ mph.
The light is on because its overheating. Im pretty sure my pressure switch is unhooked at this time so its not that.

The oil sender is tapped inside the stock oil drain bolt. So the temp is basically the oil at the pick up in the pan.

Both are really nice to have...i have still yet to hook up my tranny temp. Its all installed just havent put the sender in the line.

If the impeller is migrating or under-rotating then water flow through the system is less than designed. Thus, you'd expect high static engine temperatures. Or in other words, the engine would get really hot (210+) just sitting in a garage despite both electric fans running at full speed. (Or in the case of a pre-S4, both the driven and electric fan.)

I suspect you'd also see weird temperature gradients between the cross over and both ends of each hose. And you might see a less-than-expected difference across the radiator.

There is an easy way to check the pump: pull the driver's side belt cover and see if the trailing lip (towards back of car) of the pump pulley occludes the weep hole in the pump casting. There should be a ~2mm gap. If the weep hole looks like a 1/2 moon 'cause the pulley's covering up the other half, then your impeller is sacrificing itself against the block (if plastic) or eating the volute surface of the block (if metal.) (See threads on pumps causing block damage.)

Once the impeller has moved by ~2mm cooling capacity will begin to be noticeably impaired (IMO.)

If all the oem stuff is functioning as it should, 928s have no cooling issues. I don't think we need different fans or other stuff.

OEM is fine if it works:
Non clogged/clean radiator
pump is pumping
thermostat working
no blockage of air to radiator
fans working normally.

Tap the sender right on the water crossover. Best couple of bucks you will spend for accurate temp reading on your motor...especially in hot climates.
Pretty nice that they put in an idiot light and a temperature gauge...."double protection".

Once the idiot light came on and the temperature gauge was in the middle, it was certainly time to look carefully at things.

Stock, in this case, did its job. The problem with the sender or the gauge could have been solved and you probably wouldn't need the third "system", but it sure can't hurt.

Nice install.
