Hi Bob
You didn't post the thread. Next question is.... alternatives?
Maybe I get someone here in China to make a knock off. I am kind of kidding, but it could be done.
What's the worst that could happen, they only last a few years?
I had my supplier put through an inquiry to Bilstein to find out what the problem was.
Seems that one of the suppliers to Bilstein, for one of the pieces for the rear shocks (undefined which part), went out of business. Unclear if they can't find someone else to make the missing part or if perhaps they don't have the original drawing...but that is the "reported" hang-up.
By now, it would seem that they should be able to make a rear shock out of solid billet, with a dull file, so I'm no longer holding my breath.
Oh, I agree fully. Desperate men do desperate things in desperate times.
I am not at all keen on the idea and I doubt very much that it would worth the hassle.
That being said there is some content made here that goes into Audi's and MBZ that gets into the mainstream. Mostly because Audi's, MBZ and BMWs' are made here.
But back to my original question. Seriously What do we do for an alternative....?
Don't pin me on making Chinese parts....it was more of a joke.. I am doing some work for Porsche here
but it's for the Chinese market, not the US and it's not parts.
I guess Koni is out of the picture, am I correct?
Is there anything that can be adapted or with some machining?
I am going to go have a few beers, and watch the Italian GP and pencil out how to replace
my rear shocks with a leaf spring set up from an old Toyota Land Cruiser.
