Default Just when you think the 928 is running great ...

So the replacement gearbox is running sweet and I still have the old LSD box on my garage floor to be attended to at some later date.

After reconditioning the rear cross member because I could while the gearbox was out it has at least managed to impress the guy who did the alignment.

Not content with that I decide to dig in and fix the valve stem oil seals from the passenger side head, I thought there was only one bad one but turned out they all needed to be replaced (it was not age related). Of course while that was being done I replaced the lifters and got Ken's cam tool rather than using my (not so) trusty dial gauge. Engine was running sweet and no more occasional puff of blue smoke on start up that has been bugging me for too long.

Yesterday was hormone fever in my house (teenage daughters) so take the 928 out for some therapy and drop by the odd occasional store. Life is good and when I come out look who decided to park in front of me ...

Maybe that was a sign, anyway drive the rest of the way home (low 90's) with air con off and window down, stereo off. When I slow turn I hear this knocking noise occasionally, can't pinpoint it and it is fairly faint but of course after the engine work my senses are on full alert for anything untoward.

Get home and figured I would take a peak tomorrow, so check all the wheels are on nicely (come one we have all done it) and nope all looking good. Hmmm, maybe something on the rear suspenion I forgot? Went and re-torqued every bolt and nada. Maybe it was my imagination ??

Go check the front drive side ... tight, passenger side .. maybe that is a little play up and down, give it some muscle and yep definately something not right but cannot see with the wheel on. Anyway this is the culprit ...

Way too loose ... &*(R#$(_!*()$#@*(!

I guess the 928 wanted some attention this year ....
