Hey Sean - you can turn up the boost past where the unit can actually work and never blow up a thing - just run that subsidized-devil-juice-corn-made ethanol.

Well, it won't natively fit on on an 85/86 because of the mounting horns on the block for the intake.

These horns would need to be removed. Also the intake port shape is different between the S3 and S4 - similar, but not identical. You would have to work something out either on the manifold, at the head ports, or both.

Thanks
Hans

Is this a plug and play system, or does it need to be (shark)tuned after installation

I have a basic tune, which will get the car running, but I personally would plan on Sharktuning. There are too many variations between cars, and you would be leaving a lot of performance and drive ability on the table by not following up with tuning specific to your car, fuel, environment... etc.

Thanks,
Hans

Yes. All of DR's TS systems have the dual air intake (See picture above). It's one of the things that helps it look stock and was a requirement in DR's design philosophy.

While Hans addressed this, let me be clear. This kit was designed for the 87+ cars. There are a number of things that would need to be modified to make it work, but I think it could be made to work.

Hi Andrew!!! Hope all is well....call me when you have time so we can catch up.

As Andrew said all of my TS systems are Twin Throttle Body (pic below of 16V with cover removed)

The system Hans has for sale will fit the 85-86 32V engines with one mod, as mentioned the factory throttle body mounting bosses on the block have to be cut off...not a big deal. OR the intake manifold has to be disassembled, "pockets" cut into the each side of the lower TS intake to clear the mounting bosses, then curved plates welded in to close off the " pockets"....much bigger deal then cutting off 2 small bosses on the block so it is like the later 87 block.

Intake ports on this earlier version of our TS intake manifold are a "compromise" design, in other words they can be used on the 85-86 and 87-up intake port shapes with just some small port matching, pretty simple stuff for anyone that has the skills to install a system like this.

As also mentioned, SharkTuning is HIGHLY recommended, but you can install this old school with a BEGI pressure regulator etc....but SharkTuning is THE way to do it right. I can supply basic chips for anyone that buys this from Hans for free, (no matter which 32V version it is used on) that will get you started, but again SharkTuning will be required to make it optimal depending on your final installation details, other engine mods etc.

Also for anyone that gets this I can send you a copy of our latest 100 page plus SharkCharger Installation Manual that will help "fill in the blanks" on what will be needed to complete this system and install it. It is for our Series II system, but the basics are the same.

I think I have the manufacturer talked in to making more for me, should have definite answer in a few weeks. I also have tracked down an Identical sized replacement, just not as cost effective as previous manufacturer :-(

If I cant find an appropriate home for this kit, I may just have to find another 928 to install it on. Katie need a 928 right.... and a supercharged one too.
