Soon to be

I'm going to go to port perry early Monday. If anyone could come along for a look I would appreciate it. I will be leaving from Burlington.
I can't find any 928 specific mechanics out that way, but will keep looking.
Lunch on me!

Well we go there and the guy had the car running with the heat blasting in the interior, could here valve ticking. Car was also in a small accident that he did not disclose.
As well I caught him in a few other little lies. Car obviously sat outside for extended periods. Odometer not functioning and the Car fax report showed an inconsistent odometer reporting and 50k in one year?
Car needed 5k at least to get road worthy.
Thanks Martin for coming along.
After seeing that one I have realized the 85 I saw in the city was in very good condition, belt ten light was on but everything else was good, door seals good.
Problems:
Both seat motors not fully functioning.
Sunroof slow, needs a little push to open.
Volt and oil pressure gauges not working
AC not cold.
Wheels slightly oxidized.
Belt Ten light on, no records of when it was last done.
Slight stone chips on nose, paint is original all around.
Ignition not original, door keys do not start car.
Open recall for heat shield.
Other than that it the best condition vehicle I have seen yet.
Mileage checks out, 3-5k each year, 1k in 2009 then not driven.
Leased, then bought out.
Owner passed and wife to ownership in 2009
Traded in to Ontario Mazda then sold to Raymar who is now selling it.
Essential a one owner vehicle.
I had offered 5k as is and he accepted, but I changed my mind as I wanted to see a couple more cars.
Now I realize it's in far better shape than most I have seen to date.
I'm thinking of calling them back and see if I can make a deal with it certified, to save myself the hassel.
Will have to get it towed as I don't want to risk the motor with that Belt Ten light on.

Looks pretty good. I would ask why it has been transferred between dealers though. Other cars I have seen that go through this have problems (some of them large problems), that the first dealer doesn't want to handle, so they pass it on to someone else. Seems like you know what to look for, so I would take another very careful look and drive before making an offer.

Ya, I think I will go again tomorrow to have a second look. My guess is that Ontario Mazda noticed the belt ten light and just chose to dump it.
I was underneath it as well, CV's are good, trany fluid very clean, exhaust perfect and so on.

Hey, Congrats... Looks like you got a good one. Please do that tb/wp before driving it. I bought a very nice 86.5 after the belt jumped and bent the valves. I am rebuilding the engine now. It is a lot of work but there are many good writeups and it is a great way to get to know your car. It is also a good time to get the engine shinning like the outside...
Best of luck with it. Looking foreards to the pics...

Thanks everyone. Extra thanks to Martin, you showed me quite a few things I did not know.
The car is in excellent condition, especially the interior, even the dash is crack free. Everything appears original, electrical system, interior, paint etc. The car was basically a one owner not including the transfer to the owners wife and Ontario Mazda.
It's obvious that the car was garage kept it's whole life as there is zero fading of the interior, complete tool kit, even a recent oil change sticker on the window. Plus almost all of the electrics work, just need to sort out the power seats and the volt/oil pressure guages.
For now it is in my garage and will not be started again until I have change the TB/WP, fuel lines and released pressure in the drive shaft.
Going to order parts and tools for the TB/WP tomorrow. And print out the 9 volume work shop manual.
Here are some pics I took with my phone earlier today.
