Front caliper brake line crush washer
Hi,
My front calipers are leaking like hell after I put them back today.
I put only one crush washer between the bolt and the line.
My question is, do I need one or two crush washers, one each side of the brake line?
I don't remember if there was one or two when I removed them.
Thank you.

One each side mate, and remember they can be re annealed by heating till they are orange and quenching in water, this makes them soft again so they seal better without reefing on the bolt to hard.

Two - one each side of the fitting.
Be aware that if you are fitting new SS braided hoses some of them have come with fittings that are thinner than the stock fitting resulting in the banjo bolt being too long - bottoms out in the hole b4 it tightens on the fitting (and washers)

Thanks Roy.
When I put everything back, I was wondering how it would not leak with only one washer.
Well, I guess I need to find two more!
To make sure, can somebody else confirm this too please?
Thank you.

Thanks Malcolm,
I have two new ones right now... And four old ones somewhere in the garbage beside the garage!
Do you think I can find those around or I need to buy them from Porsche or from one of our vendor?
Thank you.

OK, this made me curious, because I had always heated til red, then let air cool. A little digging produced this:
"In the cases of copper, steel, silver, and brass, this process is performed by substantially heating the material (generally until glowing) for a while and allowing it to cool. Unlike ferrous metals—which must be cooled slowly to anneal—copper, silver and brass can be cooled slowly in air or quickly by quenching in water. "
So, the old method still works and is a lttle easier. Hang the clean washers on a steel rod, heat with a gas flame till red-hot, allow to cool.

Whether you anneal or not, dress both sides of each lightly with 600 paper to clean-up marks on them.
We've done this with more than a dozen on brakes and racks and it works great.
Two per side (of the car).
Look closely for washers that look like they are part of the bolt --- still there. There is not a step on the bolt. Otherwise you will double-up.

Thank you guys for your good advises.
I finally found 3 of the 4 old washers (yes in my garbage can ) and put 2 old one on 1 side and 2 new one on the other side after cleaning the washers and line itself with brake cleaner and a Dremel tool.
Put the Power Bleeder on with 10 lb and... No leaks!
Now time to learn how to use the Power Bleeder and bleed the system.
I know Dwayne as something on this. Thanks Dwayne.
I'll do that ony next week as I work all weekend.
Thanks again.
