Default Question of DIY X pipe

Hi
I Live in Taiwan, want do DIY X pipe for my 89 S4.
I saw a lot pictures.
Is the X pipe is (engine side) two tubes into one tube than two tube.
Or They cross like a X shape? the X sport is joint or not joint?
need you guys input. Many thanks!

PS. I know I should buy that form Roger or other vender, but shipping it to Taiwan...... too expensive.

My x pipe is two pipes that meet in the middle, there's a hole or junction between the two and then they leave as two separate tubes.

Thanks for your input, Does junction diameter size is equal to original two pipes diameter size? or Larger?

you can use either an 'x' or a 'y' depending on the rest of the system.
X for duals, Y for single.

The union of the two pipes forms an oblong gap or pass through. Here is one example of a boilerplate design, many are available:
