Well I had an adventurous day -- but will not be making out to the show and shine.

Went to the shop to pick up my '82 Euro.

Alternator still working a little wonkey -- but I bypassed the igniter circuitry in the dash
and wired up my own little light bar and found switched power.

Found the alternator worked if I revved up to 2500 rpms -- then it was fine after that.

I knew my battery was weak so I had already ordered a battery from Adv Auto.
Drove there on my way home.

Put the new battery in and smoke starts pouring from under the hood.
Couldn't figure out what was going on -- but the alternator was smoking.
Spent some time looking for a short -- couldn't find any.
Pulled the wires off the alternator.
No more smoke -- but car would not start.
headlights were constantly on tho.

Retraced the steps only to realize
The guru at Advanced Auto put the battery in backwards.

Swapped it right side -- and she fired up fine.
But the alternator is fried and the headlamps are still wonkey.

They rose and fell fine with headlamp switch -- but if the battery is connected
the headlamps are on.

Not sure what else was damaged.

Any ideas? What else should I be looking for?

thanks,

Mike

Thanks Eric! Actually I just knocked one side off. With a bolt from Tonys parts car and a few zip ties it was good as new.

So he is going to part it out. That is good news! Tony, would you like the $500 for your complete Pascha interior via paypal, or is a check OK? PM sent.

We're parting out Chucks GTS too, it's dead in the driveway. I'll try to get video of the push start attempt.

Rogers passing out prizes now, just scored a PKlamp, which I needed for the 89, thanks Roger!

I also had two different cars there at various times and a few other folks came and went too so I bet there were 55 different 928's throughout the weekend! AWESOME TIME GUYS!

ROGER and CREW, thanks so much for putting this on again! You guys know how to do it right! Laura, Chuck, Jim... GREAT WORK MY FRIENDS!

I will miss 100% of next years event if it is this same weekend, so I hope we can do something around the F1 weekend...but that might get in the way of all our fun!

Got home about an hour ago safe and sound. Car ran great all weekend. Fantastic time as always. Hands down my favorite weekend of the year. I will download all the pics I have tomorrow and post.

Laura drove nearly all the way home and wasn't shy with the go pedal!!
