DB9
Drove the Aston Martin DB9 the other day; 6.0l V12 48 valve +500hp.
Simply gorgeous car that goes like a rocket but sure felt the weight when on the brakes and only $130k, used of course
Could buy quite a few 928s for that $$$

Wow! That is a gorgeous car!
Soooo, how did it compare? Did the DB have that mechanical viscera about it? Did the seats vibrate underfoot? Did it feel like a collection of pistons, gears, fuel and tires separated by human input?
All things being equal, would that AM be more satisfying?
One of the things I love about my 928 is the pure connectedness about it. Of course, it is an older car. That connectiveness can be a pain sometimes too... ie lack of functional A/C, C/C etc.
I could imagine that AM is a great car.

The car is a '09 completely stock with a stand 6 speed transmission.
Endless torque monster; 2nd to 3rd coming onto freeway took the car well above 200kph with 3 gears to go. Well connected with good suspension keeping the car very flat, street driving.
My 928 is well sorted but the AM is in a different league. They also had a DBS but that is over $200k and the $300k Ferrari, well thats just too unthinkable for my pocket

This is what we make here in Sweden. A lot more performance than the DB9. The price tag is a lot more too.

DB9s are sweet, but I still like the lines of a 928 better.

Aston's are nice, saw a DB9 going for 65K a year ago, an 07 I think. Give a 928 a sweet NEW factory quality paint job and it will look better than the Aston. Bez has done a great job at Aston, nicest line-up on the market today.

I believe the DB9 is around 470 HP, the DBS has 510HP, but the old Vanquish-S had 520HP & had a top speed of 203MPH but had an F1 type transmission that was not perfect. I like the vanquish body style better but unfortunately never made it in a stick. But the DB9 is very nice, but for the money I'd take a stroker 928, if I could find the equivalent HP for less money.

The engine was slightly changed in '08 to give more HP......510 IIRC w/ a 300kph top speed.
The numbers dont really matter in the real world of restricted speed limits and police not allowing much fun but go drive one........superb.

According to Ulrich Bez, the DB9 is a spiritual successor to the 928. From 2002 through 2006 it had 450 horses and 2007-beyond it has 470 (purely a software upgrade that can be done to older cars). There is also a sports kit (like in the silver car kit) which includes different shocks, steering rack and lighter wheels if you want a sportier rider. Very little changes in the many years. I recommend a DB9 over a DBS any day as the DBS looks liker a ricer next to the superbly understated design of the DB9.
One note... this is NO 928 and no matter what you do, it is an expensive toy to own and maintain. Worth every penny though. I keep it along with the 928... 2 of the most beautiful cars ever made.

I think the DB9 is around 3800 lb? I would buy one with a stick if I had the money. I did see a nice vantage V8 around 380HP on ebay at $50K so far, a less expensive alternative but smaller in size, about the same size as a 928. So the Vantage reminds me of a british version of the 928. The DB9 is a bigger car but more HP., least expensive stick I've seen is $65,000 .
