wow. now i got a much clearer idea of what a late '90s 928 was spoazed to look like. some of you all know i gotz me a similar project going. of course, in my case, i'd like to think i'm doing a fair job trying not to offend God and members of the worldwide Porsche family with the results.

It's different, not bad until you get to the ugly front bumper from below the headlights, though the headlights remind me of the Ferrari 599GTB. It certainly has more styling imagination than the drab looking new porsche models.

wow, thanks Gary !
the grill work is not yet there, but it should look very good once completed... in case any of you are curious, it's coming along slowly but all is well. i'm going away so forward progress will be stopped for 3 weeks. about 3 weeks back i also took these... i've got things a lot smoother now, but....
https://rennlist.com/forums/968-foru...lastics-6.html
if you look at like the 7th and 8th photos, you'll see the center of the bumper line is a bit flat, and initially, i had a problem with matching the geometry of three sections;
1. the line of the header panel (yes, i know, the 968 actually has no header panel.... it's all one piece....) anyway, the part of the nose of my car that we will call the 'header panel,' (where it curves down with into the opening of the top vent).... from side to side forms a curve of a given sized radius....
2. there's the lower 997 bar, (the part closest to the ground under the three main radiator/intake vents).... and from side to side, it forms a similar curve but with a shorter radius (that is to say it forms a tighter semi-circle)..... but despite their differences, the curves of the lower section and that of the base of the header panel are compatable.
3. but, the section of the original 968 bumper cover (the part that covers the defacto bumper that lies beneath), forms a flat, stubby, convex square.... look at a stock 968 from 20 feet away off to the side). it indents inward as you follow the bumperline downward about 5 inches, (just adding insult to injury). so this section of the bumper cover presents a significant challenge in making it's radius compatable with the other two sections....
solution? build this section out. but this is indeed where i needed to be going next... so i have to build it out by about 3/4 inches at the top of center bumper line all the way to about 1 1/8 inch outward at the bottom of the bumper line (the center section of the bumper cover that hides the defecto bumper)...
by doing so, the curvature of the bumper line from side to side will form a circle with a radius that falls about halfway in beween the radius of the top and bottom sections...... normally we'd be talking about a lot of plastic filler. but with the help of polyethylene foam (non-reactive with polyester resin), all is well. this is the final piece of the puzzle that allows near 100% smooth transitions between the two original pieces, making the hybridization between them nearly complete.

about a week ago i did a webcam shot before i got into some more carving with the cheese grater, and it's funny how much the webcam makes the car look crooked. it's actually very close now, (a few more foam and resin applications to make before more sculpting), and (hopefully) something akin to the tacit Porsche shape will appear and i'll be able to reveal the detailed work (and grill work; by the way, i ordered the larger Ferrari grill style and they sent 3. so i have 2 extra sheets available http://www.truckchamp.com/grille-ins...rand/t%252drex) some of you had been hoping to see.

I like it.
It's different without looking like it happened after a major accident, with a 55 gallon drum of bondo.

NASTY! But looks to be quality work. They probably should have thought about how to cool that engine down...they filled the ENTIRE air intake with EURO license plate! I can assure you I won't be parking anything like that in MY garage!
