Just got mine. Got so far then stopped.

The plastic holding plate is loose so you can pull the boot up/over the ****. I didn't see any small set screws holding the **** on. The linkage is in nuetral. I gave an all-mighty pull straight up but then got a little worried that some shifter linkage bits/shank might come off with the ****! That thing is really ON there!

NOOB question: Does the OEM **** just pull straight up on off?

I have one and love it as well. have two extra black leather with yellow stitching and black leather with blue stitching with white light.

Agreed, just don't aim the **** at your forehead, they tend to let go all of a sudden!
